Since the war in Iraq is one of the main things people say is a big issue, I'll start there. I'm sure Jesus doesn't like his children fighting among one another. He can't approve of the gruesomeness that is involved in war or the pain it causes. Being that Kerry is more against the war than Bush, Kerry scores a point there.
When it comes to the war on terrorism and homeland security, I think Jesus wouldn't approve of allowing it. However, he wouldn't bomb anyone, instead he'd find the reasons the hate exists and try to resolve it with love. Since neither candidate doesn't seem to have a method to accomplish this, it’s a draw.
Another issue is gay marriage. Jesus wouldn't want anyone to endorse it as ok. However, being the empathetic person that he is, he'd try to set up a dialogue with those that are homosexual and convince them that they are giving in to their evil carnal desires. Those that were homosexual would obviously argue that its biological. Jesus, not one to follow what the ever-changing sciences say, wouldn't buy that excuse. So anyways, Bush gets a point there.
Almost forgot about taxes. It's a big deal for some. This election, some people will want the one that lowers taxes, while others will want the one that will raise them and put that money towards social issues. Jesus, being the charitable person that he is, would likely feel compelled to help others by redirecting the money. Kerry is more likely to do this.
An additional issue is abortion. Jesus would obviously be against killing babies. “Thou shall not kill” Again, he’d sympathize with those that have to make the choice to end their pregnancy. He just can’t help but still love sinners. With Bush being pro-life, He gets a point there.
While some may think that I should take into consideration Bush more because he is outwardly more religious, Kerry could be more inwardly. Both believe in GOD so that would result in a draw.
The last issue to cover is health care. Many people are concerned with it. Kerry looks to expand coverage while Bush looks to save taxpayers money. Yet again, Jesus would be disheartened that people would rather save money rather than help one another. So Kerry earns another point.
While Jesus would more likely vote for Kerry than Bush, Jesus was never one to follow politics. So there is a good chance he wouldn’t even vote. Instead, he’d participate in charities such as the United Way, the Red Cross, and Amnesty International. Or, even more likely, he’d start up his own grassroots organization that would accomplish more than these two candidates could ever accomplish. Just my opinion. I have my biases. I tried to control for them though. For example, I’m very mixed on abortion and gay marriage. So anyways, try not to get too fired up, this is just my own little way of expressing what I think, not a definitive, in your face type of thing.
