Now on to my title. I have noticed that there are 3 main spirits. You probaly heard of two of them. There is the "Holiday" spirit and the "Holy" spirit. However, I think there is a third spirit, the "Consumer" spirit. This is how I think of the 3.
Ok, first there's the Consumer spirit. I define it as "the way people act when shopping". Typically, this spirit is strongest during the winter holidays. It starts right before Halloween.
You got people running around trying to find the "right" costume. Ofcourse, when they don't find that right costume, its time to give some of that consumer spirit to the cashier. They start to whine about several things and complain about things that the cashier can't change. This sometimes results in arguments and fights. Especially when children are brought who are not well behaved.
After that, you got Thanksgiving. More of the typical things, except the holiday's intent isn't as skewed as the other American holidays. Though most of the people become frantic to please people that more often than not, they hate.
And then the consumer spirit gets the strongest during Christmas. You have obsessive shoppers anxious to find something they don't even want to buy. But ofcourse, the social pressure is too great for them not to buy something. So then the consumer spirit really heats up when you stick all these bitter immature people doing things they hate.
Consumer spirit should not be confused with the holiday spirit. The holiday spirit is the well-intended, but short lived goodness of individuals. You have people helping the homeless and giving money for the needy. This inspires such mythologyies such as "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "Frosty the Snowman" *awww, some of my favs :)* However, this ends on New Years Day, when many wake up with a booming headache and don't feel like helping for another 11 months.
Lastly, there is the Holy Spirit. There are a bunch of interpretations. Personally, I think its the part of God that influences individuals year round. Even in secular people, I think he helps influence those that actually doing something totally unselfish, like jump into an icy lake to save a little girl you don't know.
Anyways, that is just a lil something I was thinking about after I read about how Kaliko's customers were acting towards her. Also remembered how it was when I worked at JC Penny.

Other than that I am a mentally stable person. I've had one of those screwed up lives. So if you take that into consideration when looking at me now I'm like a marvel of stability.
