The Interview
Well, the interview was very mixed. Mostly good. Ok, so I go in there and its in a small suite with a few rooms. All females working there. She sees me and we go into this room with a big table but we sit next to each other. She's telling that the program goes in for about a year and tries to turn over control of thier autistic child to the parent. The approach is very behavioristic. By that I mean its mainly focused on extinguishing bad behaviors like rocking or reinforcing good behaviors like getting them to make thier beds. So after the explaining, she is looking over my resume. It seems for the first time as she takes her time with it. Since I didn't work with kids, she tryed to low ball me on my wage. She said she'd pay me $9.50. I then told her that I was quoted on the phone for $11. I explain that I could get more with my office experience and lie about having a job offer for $12. Though its not necessarily a lie because the jobs I'm applying for are around there. She eventually takes it to $10.50 and we settle on that.

It seems that she wanted me but I didn't have my drivers license yet and that's a must there. I'd have to drive to children's homes to help them. Which I didn't want to do. Living where I do, I'd always be driving far. Second, the maximum hours per week would be 30. I was looking for full time. They said that was full time to them. Had I known that was full time to them, I may've not went there. I do want a full time poistion. Anyways, I asked if I would have the poisition had I got the drivers license and that was a yes. So now that's an option.

After that, I leave and since Michelle came with me, we go out. She likes me when I dress up with the tie and dress shirt. We drink some mango jamba juice and buy some junk food at the nearby store. From there, we go to Barnes and Noble to read the novel, "The Notebook". We read together and it was nice. We were noting Nichols Sparks' style and usage of words. I'm still planning a novel and want to incorporate what I think the great books use. Thus, I want to browse through other great novels to get ideas on structure, word choice and plot. I don't want to copy any of them because that wouldn't be genuine. However, I want to see how the grab a certain human essence or experience and convey to the reader emotions and other assorted thoughts. I mean, the great ones get you crying at the end. If I could do that with my story, it'd be a success for me, even if it didn't become big or anything. Though something like that will likely take me years to put together. So anyways, we bought the book. At the counter, we found that Nicols Sparks is gonna be at our Barnes and Noble discussing and signing his new book on Halloween. We plan on being there.

After leaving there, our stomach is grumbling and we head out for a restaurant. We decide on Chinese food and go across down for this one diner. We order our food and that seemed like that was just gonna be that, ordering food. Well, our waitress just wasn't gonna let that be that. She comes over and starts conversating. Not just how you doing and all that fluff kind of talk. She starts to ask Michelle how come she didn't talk to her in Chinese. She asks if I'm working and if she is going to college. We go along because its seems like she expects nothing but for us to fit her little sterotype. She then asks us if her parents approve of me because I'm "mexican and white". *close enough* She also starts to say Mexicans "give no tips" and that I had "got" to tip. Not once, but on two seperate occasions. She also asks Michelle about her family in China *of which Michelle knows very little about* and whom she's living with now. Ofcourse, Michelle had to say she is living with her mom. Otherwise, she wouldn't like us and our food would likely suffer.

It seems that a lot of the Chinese born people I encounter seem to think life should be lived a certain way. The girl goes to college and the guy supports. Its a common theme there. The male in the family gets all the privledge. Girl lives with family until married or out of college. Overbearing push towards grades and success. That isn't to be confused with those that are Chinese and born here. Being born here makes them more like this culture. Obviously. Still, I don't like that way of thinking. Its very rigid. Actually, I don't like any of the people who act like the sterotype of their race. They don't have to like what I like but I feel that those who don't question the box they live in and think its superior are not the kind of people I like to be around. I mean, Lorenzo *my mom's bf* is that sterotype Mexican. And to be quite honest, that gets on my nerves. Life to those I guess I'd call the conformists is like that there is only one way to live and if you don't, your gonna be talked about and ridiculed. Especially if they speak another language. I've found that they really are talking about you in thier other language. Especially when they are sure you don't know what they're saying. Anyways.....

Went home and had a nice day overall. Tomorrow is Michelle's turn. She's interviewing for an Instructional Aide poisition at some elementry school. So yeah.....

Read the comments you guys dropped and just like to say thanks. I definately look forward to comments. Just ask Michelle. Wait, you can't. BUT! If you could, she'd say, "He always checks for comments" I always think about what you say like your my subconscious sometimes. You guys all have different voices in there too. The voices never quite match what you really sound like in real life, but I just guess by the way you put your comments and what your focus is in life. Anyhow, I probaly will end up calling them after I get my license because ya'll convinced me that I should give it a shot. Anyways, I should really be sleeping. Well I was, then Michelle woke me up and now I'm up. But I got all the thinking in my out on this diary. *where's my applause* Who didn't light up the sign? Someone is fired. Wow, one clap, that's it?! Hey, you guys should clap at the screen when someone you know is around just so you could freak them out. LOL.

I'd definitely try again once you have your license. It's money after all plus it'll look good on your resume :)

Your subconscious? lol.

I always think it's funny that we all have ideas of what others sound like. We'd probably all get a shock if comments were audible!

I've been hearing that trumpet again, but I don't think it's the second coming. I think that would be louder.

Hope you find the right job and place eventually. I guess it all helps you learn about what you really want to do.

God bless
