I am tripping out, Need help
Ok, some I'm watching Maury Povich when I see a kid that had hypopituitarism, and then I was like, wow, I have that too. *Its crazy seeing someone that has the same thing as you. He was 28 but looked 12. I am 20 look 15, I guess I should consider myself lucky. Hmmm, so anyways I didn't even trip the rest of the day until chatting with emilyowey. There I inicidently went to yahoo to look it up and stuff. There I found some scary sites. First, Hypopituitarism is usually permanent and requires life-long treatment. That means I will forever be subject to pills. Then growth hormone is giving by needle everyday. Testostorone given weekly. Then long term effects seemed grim. So much so, I went to a support group on msn. There I submitted some questions. I am scared! I think I came to the realization that this isn't going away. So scared I almosted cryed just while chatting to emilyowey. She tryed to comfort me,but it wasn't working.

I really need to talk to my endocrinologist. But she is only there Mondays. GRRR. I hope this group replies to me. OH, here is what I have, and describtions about them,

Deficiency of ACTH and cortisol

Deficiency of ACTH resulting in cortisol deficiency is the most dangerous and life threatening of the hormonal deficiency syndromes. With gradual onset of deficiency over days or weeks, symptoms are often vague and may include weight loss, fatigue, weakness, depression, apathy, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and hyperpigmentation. Treatment consists of cortisol administration or another similar steroid (like prednisone).

Deficiency of TSH and thyroid hormone

Deficiency of thyroid hormone causes a syndrome consisting of decreased energy, increased need to sleep, intolerance of cold (inability to stay warm), dry skin, constipation, muscle aching and decreased mental functions. This constellation of symptoms is very uncomfortable and is often the symptom complex that drives patients with pituitary disease to seek medical attention. Replacement therapy consists of a daily pill called thyroxine (Synthroid, Levothyroxine etc). The correct dose is determined through blood tests.

Growth Hormone Deficiency

Growth hormone is necessary in children for growth, but also appears necessary in adults to maintain normal body composition (muscle and bone mass). It may also be helpful for maintaining an adequate energy level, optimal cardiovascular status and some mental functions. Symptoms of GH deficiency in adults include fatigue, poor exercise performance and symptoms of social isolation. GH is only available in injectable form and must be given 6-7 times per week.

We know from many descriptive studies that patients with pituitary disease experience major depressive disorder, severe anxiety including panic disorder, and psychotic disorders

I think right now I'm going through a panice attack or something. I feeling really trippy, like I want someone to talk to NOW!!! I need comfort, I'm gonna try God in just a minute, but for some reason I feel that is not enough, besides, I want the human approach.
