Besides love, this movie got me thinking about heaven. How is heaven going to work? I mean, you got people there that will likely be imperfect. But perfect humans are necessary for heaven to truely be heaven. The only way to make us perfect and happy would be to erase a majority of our memories. Otherwise, we got people sinning and crying about loved ones that aren't there. There is so many problems that arise from the concept of heaven that I have seriously thought about writing a book about it. Whether that gets done or not is another question. But I know there is interest out there for an exhaustive analysis of how this place would have to fuction and what it would feature. I could even make a spinoff book about hell. Though that would be a bit harder. You would really have to discuss whether we deserve punishment and the nature of God. Plus, its already been written. I've never seen anything written about how the social interactions or several other logistics will need to play out. Atleast I haven't seen one taking a non-secular, psychosocological approach. Plus one that asks the question, what happens to all this science that God uses to make us if out of nowhere, He abandons it for a magically floating place. Does he just abandon the law of gravity? Everything else has been covered.
I've thought about heaven on Earth, and I just don't think that is possible. Not in its current form. There aren't enough resources to make everyone happy. Someone's got to do the hard work. Psychologically, we're not built to be happy all the time. The chemicals tend towards neutralness. Plus, we don't enough to get the intelligent, benevolent individuals we have to take charge and make the right decisions that benefit everyone. And there is the vicious cycle of that evil and hate set into motion. And then there is just plain greed. We always want more. Its never enough. The only way for there there to be equality would be if everyone in the "western" civilizations gave up all the excess they got. How likely is that? Are you willing to give up probaly 40-50% of your income and poessessians? Didn't think so.
For now, the only way to taste heaven, is to be kind to yourself. Love yourself. Don't be so hard on yourself about the past. You can only change the future. Act with love towards others. Be the change you seek in the world. Acknowledge the great things in your life. Tell everyone you love them and treat them that way, because you never know when it'll be your last time. I hope we all find our little pieces of heaven. The only one that can give you psychological heaven is YOU.
