Finally!
Yesterday I actually started on a novel. I was reading Time's Top 100 novels and reading the synopsis of some favorite novels. All were very interesting, sometimes though I try not to read too much about others' ideas because I feel that it stifles my own creativity. Finally, I came up with a storyline that can uses both my knowledge about secular psychology and religion. While I don't want to say too much right now, essentially I want to write a story that pits the two modern-day forces against one another but also can be read in a different way to retell another, more familiar story with my own lil twist. I've found it taking a lot of time to even get the names down and their motivations. Right now, I got that, a lil synopsis and an idea of how I want the reader to feel after reading it. I have an idea about how to start and fill the book, but not how to end it. I assume it will simply happen.

In other news, talked to Ray (friend). We had another long convo. (4 hours) Me and him simply have flow. Talked about this girl that had been courting him named Unique. They would hang out during lunch daily for the last four months or so and she apparently really wanted to date him but he had rebuffed her. He's really into religious chicks and well, she's not that. Still, she had persisted for awhile even after he said they were just friends. However, this week she didn't sit with him, return his phone calls or anything. He was talking to me and was wondering aloud what happened. I told him, "She's got someone" He says, "You think? Maybe..." I say, "She probably got a date and now she's all infatuated with him, she don't need you anymore" He says very hurt like "But how come she didn't just tell me.." With surprise in my tone, I say, "Why would she tell you? To rub it in? Hey I'm going on a date! That would just be rude. Plus now, if it don't work out, then she goes back to you and talks to you" Ray still insists that she should've told him or returned his calls. Michelle in the background, listening to it all is saying "Who does he think he is? He didn't pursue her. Why should she continue? Tell him that" I look at her like, "i'm not saying that". Somehow, she ends up talking to him anyway for a bit.

After that, we talk some more and he finally has given up on a really tough Anatomy and Physiology class he was taking. I have no idea how he didn't ace the class. (or why he is still just second year in college, being only 1 year away from me) In high school, his grades kicked my grades' ass; harder classes at that. For the longest time, I always thought he was smarter than me but now I think we're around equivalent. I wouldn't say I'm smarter than him though as he has really keen observation abilities (nearly everyone that has met him that I know has noted his intelligence). I think he just lacks drive right now.

Also finally found some poetry I'd like to put on here (Ray heard it on NPR and told me.). Its a bit humorous but like all good (to me atleast) poetry, it is easily accessible and has nuggets of Truth.

'The Drunken Driver Has the Right Of Way'

by Ethan Coen

The loudest have the final say,
The wanton win, the rash hold sway,
The realist's rules of order say
The drunken driver has the right of way.

The Kubla Khan can butt in line;
The biggest brute can take what's mine;
When heavyweights break wind, that's fine;
No matter what a judge might say,
The drunken driver has the right of way.

The guiltiest feel free of guilt;
Who care not, bloom; who worry, wilt;
Plans better laid are rarely built
For forethought seldom wins the day;
The drunken driver has the right of way.

The most attentive and unfailing
Carefulness is unavailing
Wheresoever fools are flailing;
Wisdom there is held at bay;,
The drunken driver has the right of way.

De jure is de facto's slave;
The most foolhardy beat the brave;
Brass routs restraint; low lies high's grave;
When conscience leads you, it's astray;
The drunken driver has the right of way.

It's only the naivest who'll
Deny this, that the reckless rule;
When facing an oncoming fool
The practiced and sagacious say
Watch out — one side — look sharp — gang way.

However much you plan and pray,
Alas, alack, tant pis, oy vey,
Now — heretofore — til Judgment Day,
The drunken driver has the right of way.

Hmm..got a lot more actually. I'm tired though, so I'll save it for another entry. Basically, it'll be about Michelle's ultrasound. I'll post a pic of that, some info on the pregnancy and maybe another pic one of lil tinoz.
