Mon Apr 28 2008 - My Son Is Born!
My Son Is Born!
Wow, what a rollercoaster of emotions. So it all starts at 3AM on the 27th. Michelle wakes me up and tells me her water broke. She is asking me for some clothes and a towel and I'm very nervous. I take really long and she gets a bit upset at me. I then call the labor department at Kaiser and try to find out if they'll approve an ambulance ride. They were essentially telling us to find a ride, saying, "You don't have a car? Don't you have friends or family who could give you a ride". If I did, would I be asking? I called Ray atleast 10 times and he didn't answer. I called my mom so she could ask her friend. My mom told me to call in the morning as Martha doesn't answer her phones in the morning. She didn't even try to call her. So I call 911 and they come. Luckily, I get to ride.

Its a waiting game at the hospital. Lots of forms to fill out and go over. The pain does not start for quite awhile for Michelle. They had to induce labor via hormones. Though unlike what the term seems to imply, nothing was really induced. It took to like 6PM for pain to begin. Soon, Michelle would get her epideral. My mom soon showed up. She brings me some pizza. Michelle could only watch as she was on a liquid diet. I use my camcorder to record a few things. Ray soon calls and asks why I didn't call him again. I figured I'd call him once the baby was born. Well he invites himself over and he soon shows up. *which was cool* We talk, and talk and talk. Its the usual type of conversation between me and Ray. However, after throwing a few hints that she was tired, Michelle basically told him to leave. At this point it was 10PM. She was mad at me, but soon we resolve it.

It soon rolled into midnight. Michelle was shivering and throwing up all over the place. I had to help her out. She was also sporting a fever. After assisting her, I fell asleep. At around 3AM, I was awakened and had to grab our stuff to the delivery room. I am excited and scared. What will he look like? I hope he's not deformed. Well I'll still love him but, I just hope he's ok. Soon Michelle I pushing and pushing. I am there encouraging her and holding her leg. THe head starts to show down there and she says very seriously, "I'm too tired, can we just finish later" A quick laugh later, we are telling her to PUSH!!! The head is so evident. 45 minutes of very intense labor, Santino Jr. is born. He is cleaned off and handed over.

He's awake and crying. He hears Michelle's voice and is instantly soothed. He is looking around and normal, cept some birth canal head. (his head was a bit enlongated) Soon, however, he is taken to the Intensive Care Unit. It seems Michelle got infected in her uterus. She still had a fever. We soon learn that he will be kept for atleast a few days, as they do some blood work. Also, Michelle is sick and has something, I forget the name. She won't be coming out in atleast 48 hours.

I visit the baby in the ICU and take some pictures. Michelle can't go initially as she is too tired. After some time, we go together. More pictures are taken. Later, at 3PM, my mom comes with my siblings and her friend and visits the baby. He is sleeping, even though other babies who are mostly premature are crying. They say they STILL haven't got back the lab results, but I'm told his lungs are a bit weak and he's not keeping up his body tempurature. We're concerned but believe he'll be ok. I soon leave as I got a paper to do by tomorrow. I also upload the pics.

So, the big question, where can I see the pics? Well, I dunno where to host it so I'm just putting it at myspace. Click So they are there. If, you can't get there, then I can email them to you a few. If I get enough requests, then I'll upload it on yahoo or something. Just, that way is more labrious, so we'll see.

In other news, which was actually pretty bad, the letter Michelle got was confirmed. She is being layed off. It was actually caused by someone else with more seniroity in a different school being layed off and taking her position. So come July 1st, she will no longer have the position. Our benfits will be cut out on August 31st. At that point, I will not be able to get my pills anymore. Michelle seems more optimistic and believes that if she does graduate from UC Davis this quarter that she could find a job with benefits by then. Hopefully...

I just hope Michelle and my son are ok. I will go there tomorrow after class. Well that's all for now. Let me know if you can see the pics and what not.
