Close Call!!
Tue Aug 03 2004

Darn near got creamed by an idiot driver this morning.

I was in the intersection approaching the freeway entrance. There was a big tour bus to the left of me (two lane f'way entrance), when all of a sudden on my right there was a car from out of nowhere about to smash into me. My passenger would have been seriously hurt. I don't think the driver made a right turn from the perpendicular westbound lane, because we were still in the intersection. I think what happened was that he came from the parking lot of the hotel on the southeast corner of street, drove across two lanes of west-east traffic and across two lanes of east-west traffic, and into my northbound lane approaching the freeway on-ramp. Why he didn't smash into me, I don't know, except the Lord and all the Guardian Angels were looking after us. Thank you!!!!

But what I want to know is WHERE IS A COP WHEN YOU WANT ONE??

OK, the rest of the day was pleasant. My daughter had requested my presence at her workplace, and so after I got friend returned from his doctor visit, and had a bite to eat, I went to see what daughter wanted. She said to bring a sketch pad and a pencil. Okaaay.

But first, we had to stop at the coffee shop, and then sit and gab awhile. She has a favorite corner where she can see the whole mall in all directions, so even while she's taking a break, she's still on duty. Anyway...my sketch pad had only a few clean pages left, so I decided to go to the Dollar Store and see what I could find. I wanted two things: a sketch pad and some colored pencils. I ended up spending $14 at the Dollar Store. I didn't know there was so much stuff I wanted/needed.

Anyway Megan had a dream last night, and she wanted me to make a sketch of the very good looking, mysterious man in her dream. Megan and (grandson)Gryffan have asked me to draw characters for them in the past, and it's odd how we seem to be communicating verbally and telepathically. I have always been able to draw exactly what it is they're imagining, even though the verbal description is sketchy. I don't know if I can communicate with anyone else that way. Would be interesting to find out.

Oh, yes, and one of the other things I bought at the Dollar Store was two rolls of wallpaper border. Now keep in mind that I live in an apartment, and we are pretty much restricted in the kind of decorating we're allowed to do. In my bathroom, I have one wall covered with static-cling wallpaper of ivy. The border I found matches perfectly, but it's regular paste-on variety. In the far, far future, when my apartment becomes vacant, someone is going to have some unkind words to say about the idiot tenant who actually glued something to a wall. And not only that, I'm going to paint the living room, and put a border there, too. So there!!

Oh, yes, the border looks really nice, and vastly improves the look of my generic apartment bathroom.

I finally decided to come home before the worst of the commute traffic started. Took the scenic route rather than the freeway. Well, "scenic" is being kind.

So that's my day, and I'm well satisfied with it.

Shalom

    Wonder if they are related?

I love that you draw your daughter's dream characters.. So how did he look?
I relate to your telepathic communication with her.. My Mother and I also do this; as does my Daughter (when she isn't using drugs which dull her natural ability to do anything)
Hugs to you. We must drive defensively as bad drivers are everywhere!

With luck, in the far, far future, the new tenant is a wallpaper, border lover like myself.
Didn't anyone ever tell you Cops are only around when you make a mistake?

I was thinking the Border would be a perfect running companion for Hubby and the boys. As far as training, no problem there. I've trained every dog I've ever owned. In addition to that, a Border has the temperment and intelligence desired in a 4-H dog for the kids.

I also don't want another big dog. I want something I can transport in my carry on luggage when I fly somewhere! I want something with a coat that I am not a slave to! I want something I can give a bath in my sink! Not bending over a bathtub has great appeal to me!

I've had dogs that were diggers in the past. One in particular I was convinced had a great deal of Husky in him based on how much digging he did. I found that as long as the dog was not unsupervised outside, they didn't dig. I'm a staunch supporter of not just blindly letting your dog outside. Crates and dog runs factor largely into unsupervised time a dog may have. It is much easier to clean out a dog run that has been paved than it is to deal with grass, gravel or wood chips.

I know all the drawbacks to the breed. I've been researching dogs for as long as I can remember. I had a friend with a Border when I was growing up, and liked what I saw in that pup. Most importantly, a Border is not a Beagle, which Hubby wanted to look into and which I totally despise (I have known several Beagles, and all of them dumb as a box of hair)!
