Seems strange not to have something poking in my skin, hanging from the body, or patched, Bandaided, or otherwise intruding.
I was admitted on aThursday night, operated sometime Friday early morning, came to in a fog some hours later. No pain. I was so sedated the whole time, I didn't feel even a stitch. Morphine/Morpheus.
Seems I had a perforated bowel. I have a stoma and a colostomy bag which needs multi-daily care. I'm getting quite adept. I'm hoping it's temporary. When digested food is passed into the bag, it's with fanfare. I'm sure I'm going to be embarrassed by the noise. Got in touch with a local Ostomy club. Next meeting is in January, and I should be able to go.
I have three doctors, and my own primary, to make appointments with in two weeks. They'll have to be made with the availability of transportation.
My friend Joan has been a true friend. Very solicitous, and capable. It's nice having one's own personal gofer. Gonna have trouble giving up on that, but I must declare (if only to myself) my independence.
The hospital food was GOOOOD. I didn't have much capacity at first, having been five days without food, but the taste buds worked just fine. I finally got the kitchen to cut the portion to a size I could finish, and finish I did. Practically licked the plates.
Home Health Nurse came by this morning and left me a bunch of stuff to read. My regular HHN will be by on Friday, and we'll see if she can order home health aide who will help me with bathing and stuff. I'm about ready to shave off my hair. There'll probably be physical rehab. I'm weak and tire almost at the thought of getting out of bed.
Fortunately, I have a lot of food in the freezer, and nuking it is about as easy as food preparation comes. I called a friend and told her to come over, and bring CHOCOLATE! What a friend! A three pound box of goodies.
Another friend sent over a big bowl of bulgar and chicken. I picked at a couple pieces of chicken and ate some of the bulgar. It was good. I like the flavor of chicken, just not the meat.
Now I'm very tired. Going to investigate a plate of food Joan brought from a party last night. I know there's gefilte fish. Yum! And after I eat, I may even fall asleep in my recliner.
I'm feeling good, but weak and tired. My appetite is good. I enjoy a friend or two coming to visit. And soooo glad to be back with DD.
Thanks all for your good wishes and prayers. I believe in the healing properties of prayer! Please continue.
Love and blessings to you all.
