I remember
Thu Feb 12 2009

This would be a sweet Valentine's Day remembrance, except that it didn't happen on that day.

It must have been spring or summer because my bedroom window was open, and it was probably mid-evening, because it was dark outside, and my light was on.

Suddenly. . .  What is that?  Someone strumming a guitar outside my bedroom window. Then a sweet baritone began singing a love song in Spanish.

I went to the window and called out "Roberto?  Roberto?" The singing continued, then my then boyfriend (later husband) appeared at the window. Well, he could barely carry a tune in a basket, and I knew for sure that he couldn't play the guitar. Then. . . who?

Yes, Stan had persuaded Roberto, a friend from Mexico, to serenade me at my window.  Wasn't that romantic?

Wow.. to be serenaded (*is that a word) is something I've never had done for me..
I did have a high-school friend who played my brothers guitar and then told bro to save it.. since said guitar would be worth millions when this guy was famous.. *He has done background work on several other groups CD's and albums, but hardly famous.. **

    Oh.. youth!!!

BTW: i am very happy to hear your pain is much better.. I was so worried about that!

Oh, please tell me he was singing, "Bessame Mucho." That's been a lifelong fantasy of mine.

Wow, what a memory! That is wonderful. You've had quite the experiences, I must say. How romantic!

RYC: I think the doc should have to pay for those kids upbringing himself, actually. Maybe the state of California should sue him?

LOL! That is just too sweet! But I feel sorry for Stan that he didn't have the confidence in his own singing abilities to serenade you himself.

    Love,
    E.L.
