I heard a pounding on my front door this afternoon. When I went to see who was there, I saw this familiar face, but it took me a moment to put a name to it. Sue? Suzanne? Then I looked around the corner to the rest of the patio to find the other face that went with the one I was looking at.
Andrew and Sue had driven up from SoCal to visit Gryffan, Tracey and Deirdre. And me. They agreed that the baby is beautiful.
Unfortunately, the visit was brief, as G&T were having visitors, and Andrew didn't want to intrude. So they came back and visited with me.
Lynn had a date tonight, so I was going to be with my girls for the evening, and Caitlin said she wanted to meet Andrew and Sue. So they tagged along, and we all had a nice visit. Andrew talked to Caitlin as an adult. He's considerate that way. She is, after all, 13 years old now. Nicole was busy on the computer. Sue is quiet, but she interjected comments from time to time. Andrew is noisy and hyper-kinetic. Sue is quiet and calm. What a combination!!
They left after about an hour. They're early-to-bedders because they're early-to-risers. We're going for brunch in the morning. And I think I should be thinking about bed if I'm going to be ready when they come in the morning. Noon rise-up just won't do tomorrow.
Bless

Have a great brunch.
I wish I could see mine.
Enjoy your brunch with them.

It's a 10 day process to make it. When you receive a bag, you mush the bag once a day until the 6th day, when you add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. You continue to mush the bag daily while the starter continues to ferment, then on the 10th day you separate it into four 1-cup portions, using 1 for baking yourself, keeping a starter for yourself and giving the remaining 2 starters you give to friends.
I'm not sure if it's Kosher or not, here is a link to the recipe for you to check:
http://www.armchair.com/recipe/bake002.html
If you're interested, when I divide the starter I've got I can express mail a starter and the instructions/recipe to you. Let me know!

There is a way to make a starter like this on this site:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Amish-Friendship-Bread-Starter/Detail.aspx
the most important part is to not let any metal come into contact with it. I use a glass bowl, and rubber, plastic or wooden spoons on it. The only metal it finally comes in contact with are my bread pans, which have a teflon coating.
Hopefully the starter will be kosher so you can enjoy this delight. The only question I have is the presence of the milk and if the fermentation process affects whether it is kosher or not.
Enjoy!

Too bad the world is such a big place.
It would be nice if it was filled with transporters like Star Trek.
;-)
I bet you're still smiling. :o)

You really amaze me..
huggers for the wee one.. Deirdre.. That is such a unique spelling of her name.. isn't it? So when do we get a pix of her.. I mean one is never enough!!!
hugs
In order for me to have a spelling in mind.. I'd have to have a mind..
Deidre is lovely..
No.. I just meant.. the unique spelling of her name is wonderful.. not that I wanted to change it...
I almost spelled my Tara's (daughter) name Terra.. and then at last minute went with Tara.. Since then, have seen it spelled Tyra, Tera, Terra, Tarea and probably more..
It is totally up to the parents.. my granddaughter naming Hailey.. and spelling it that way.. When I thought Haley was good.. and Kaytlyn instead of Katelynn.. oh you get my point..
.. anyway.. lovely entry.. glad I became a part of it...
;)
Hugs,
Ani
PS RC and one of his daughters are like that--always early. Used to really bug me, but I'm pretty much used to it now (after 20 years!).
