Wading through 400 +
Tue Jul 22 2008

I have been sitting here before my computer almost the whole day. I did take time out to read the paper and walk out to the mailbox for my mail.  I have a stiff neck for my efforts, but I'm down to 150 entries now.   I've done a lot of reading and practically no commenting.

I've been predicting to myself that I will leave California during a heat wave and will return to a heat wave after enjoying the mild Washington weather. I leave 3 August and return 12 August.   I had originally planned to leave one of Rowen's friends with them, but her Mom decided she didn't want to part with her daughter for a lengthy period of time.  So, Kirsten will be travel ling with me round trip.  I do hope her Mom comes up with some $$ to reimburse me for Kirsten's round trip ticket.

I think I mentioned before  my old puter died that I was planning a driving trip to Washington. Well, all the fires in NoCal had me worried, so decided it would be better to fly.  Now, most of the fires are completely or mostly contained, and the air quality is decidedly better.  It was BAD for awhile.  The Delta Breeze forced some of the air northward, and the foothills communities got back all their smoke.

As for the weather, temps are reaching for the triples. The 5-day forecast has us at 99 degrees for the rest of the week.

My Nerd brought me a sleek Dell computer.  He is going to try to off-load some things from my hard drive--games and things--and bring me back a disc. I miss my solitaire games. I found a daily jig-saw puzzle, but it's a pale imitation of the puzzles I used to get.  I tried to load a disc of solitaire games, but it wouldn't load. I couldn't get the puter to the Run stage.  Have to call my Nerds On Call, and see if they can figure out the problem.

Oh, gee! It's great to be back in circulation. I've felt disconnected from the Universe.  Just think--30 years ago we wouldn't be having this conversation. I can remember typing on a non-electric, manual typewriter. My mind boggles when I think of the things I've seen develop in my lifetime!

I'm giving some serious thought to moving to Washington.  It will have to be Vancouver, because there is no synagogue in Yacolt or Battleground. Would love to live in Yacolt, though. Such a pretty country place. 2000 population on a good day. Clean, clear air.  Clean, clear water.  Gorgeous mountains all around.

The grandkids are settled in Santa Rosa now, and Tracey is in her second day of orienting to the way the control tower personnel work in that particular control tower. Gryffan is supremely happy being Mr Mom.He would like to make that his career. But he'd also like to get his teaching credential.

Had  a pretty good day with Dierdre while mom and dad were packing up the moving van. She's such a beauty, and I think her brains will be a match. She's very alert.  I actually got her to laugh out loud by nibbling on her fat little toes.  That, right there, is the one and only thing that would keep me from moving to Washington. Santa Rosa isn't that far away, and I could make monthly trips. Living in Vancouver, I'm afraid, would not lend itself to monthly trips.   *sigh*

OK, I think that does it for today.

Bless

I noticed there was one fire very near where you live.. (about 1-2 weeks ago) So glad to hear they are now mostly contained..
We had the strangest weather yesterday.. Some neighborhoods not far west of me got totally flooded!! (To the point where they had to be evacuated).. And I had not a drop of rain or hail.. but a spectacular lightening show last night.. Wow is was something..
You have a good summer plan .. Wait and see how things go up north before you commit to moving.. You may change your mind.. I don't know what I'd do at this point without my daughter near.. So I do understand the pull of that. .. and also the pull of the new addition.. Your sweet great grand!!
    You'll figure it out ...
and OMG 400 +.. when my computer crashed I was lucky in that I lost all old emails.. so I just started over from 0.. You are so committed.. Or maybe you need to be committed.. LOL.. j/k

I did not even get online at all yesterday. Had one of those days I did not want to I guess, but I did have a productive and busy day yesterday.

Welcome back, dear Chaya! I can imagine the volume of e-mails you have to wade through. My birthday e-card to you is in there in your inbox somewhere.

Good to know your Nerd brought you a Dell. Hope you get some great games installed. I got my parents a Brain Trainer last year and it's awesome. You wanna see if you can download a similar game?

The N-Cal fires. Scary. Glad to know the air quality has improved. I hope Kirsten's mom reimburses you too.

Take care & Lots of Love,
    E.L.
