Overnight Gremlin
Tue Apr 13 2010

Sometime between the time I logged off last night until this morning when I logged on, Gremlins have been busy.

I can read everything that comes up without another address to click on, which means . . .

I can't read your diaries, nor can I read your comments to my diary. Coming into my own diary, I can read your comments after I click on Read Comments at the bottom of my diary entry. However, clicking on your comment gets me nowhere if I want to respond to your comment. The little round circle goes round and round, and round and round, but nothing else happens.

The way I access the Internet now is to click on Launch Internet Explorer Browser icon at the bottom of my screen, instead of clicking on the Firefox Internet icon on the opening screen.

What this amount to is that I can read your comments after I come into my own diary. I can't access your diaries. I can't respond to a Facebook message. In fact, I can't access anything where there's a URL to be clicked. There may be other problems I haven't discovered yet. So what have those busy little demons done to my puter in the dark of night??

This seems to be the pattern of my life these last 18-or-so months. One day I can do something, the next day I can't. I'm thinking of giving Mercy General Hospital as my alternate home address.

Anyone have any ideas about the puter problem?

Bless

PS: I finally have a neighbor. The apartment next door has been vacant for many months. I knocked on the door last evening, and a nice lady answered. I think there's a new friend in the making.

Hub Man had a similar problem.

He fixed it with a new CPU.

I recommend something less drastic myself.

    You need a rent-a-geek.

I have no idea what's up with that. I guess when you get an updated notify you're going to have to just go to DD and enter the diary name until you get it sorted out. Same with Facebook. Wish I had better advice.

P.S. the e-mail address I have for you isn't working. Would you mind e-mailing me the new one?

If you are having trouble to open links from your E-MAIL only (dd or facebook, doesn't matter) and if your e-mail is on AOL, then I've heard that older versions of AOL do not allow clickable links in mail messages. To test if this is the case, try to copy the link from e-mail and paste it into your browser and see if this will work.

    Good luck.
    Still glad you're here

I had this problem too.. I had to click something that allowed links to work. it is in internet browser settings.. but I can't remember how to tell you to get at it.. Check settings under internet browser. I have had LOTS of problems with I-Explorer. can't even get mail through AOL any longer.. and I used it for years and years.. I wish I still had AOL.. at least it told me what to do.... Who knows what's up.. sorry I can't be of more help..
Glad you are back though... missed you...

Glad you are navigating better here! How frustrating must have been. I hope your new neighbor is a good one. re: your comment, yes, a car is freedom! I have some repairs to do on it so that it will last me a long time and I'm making them a priority. I don't ever want to be without wheels again. It's so good to see you here. I hope you are comfortable. I know you have been so very uncomfortable with all you have been through. I remember when I no longer noticed my back pain, what a relief it was.
    :-D
    Love to you dear friend,

I've missed you! We've been so worried about you! So glad to have you back, Chaya! Sorry I can't help you with the 'puter problems. I am happy, though, that you've found a new friend. That is very good news indeed.
