Marian
Mon Feb 05 2007

Had a call from my niece this afternoon.

Marian had her surgery.  She's been out of bed and walking around.  Has some pain, but that's to be expected.  But she's on oral pain med instead of IV, and that's GOOD.

Trish said that Marian's neurosurgeon is the best.   Trish is an extremely competent nurse, and any medical person who gets her vote is, perforce, top of the line.

It's a possibility that Marian will be home from the hospital tomorrow.  Incredible.  Only a few years ago, such surgery would have occasioned at least a week in the hospital, severely restricted activity once home, and home possibly in a cast for who knows how long.  Marian's scar is about two inches long.

Incredible.

Thanks so much for all  your prayers.  I'm sure they helped even the top-notch neurosurgeon.

Shalom

Wow. I can't believe the things they do these days. I'm so glad things went well, though, and that Marian will soon be home.

RYC: It's more complicated than it looks. Deci is dealing with things no one remembers except her. I don't not believe her, but she has ''remembered'' things before that never happened, like she ''remembered'' I'd told her my Dad raped me. NOT!

RC remembers coming out of the bathroom nude once when he thought it was me who just came into the house. (Deci and I sound so much alike that on an answering machine, even I don't know which of us I'm listening to.) Both of them dove for cover.

The rest, if it happened, is not physical, but verbal. It is symptomatic of RC's illness that he says things he doesn't recall At All even a day later.

I don't know how they're going to work it out. Deci is in counseling. RC is hurting, because he doesn't remember ever doing anything to hurt her, and loves her as his daughter.

Meg's mom, Mel, has created her own birthday solution. It doesn't feel good either. Deci is not invited, because she wants Meg's grandparents to be there. sigh.

    Hugs,
    Ani

This is wonderful news.. I'm so glad she had a successful operation and recovery seems to be going very well..*already up and walking!! WOW
It is amazing how short the hospital stays are these days..
They sent dad home so quickly after his stroke.. Course it wasn't as severe as mom's.. but still.. Surprised me..
    He is also doing well.
    Prayers and hugs your way
    love
