Coffee
Fri Dec 26 2003

I'm not generally a coffee drinker, but in the morning I'm going to make a pot of coffee. Why? Because I got a gift.

Daughter gave me a Chanukah (very non-traditional) gift of two insulated mugs and two bags of coffee. "100% Arabica beans delicately flavored with vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and all the rest of the fragrant & delicious spices that make the season special."

And it smells so good. But if I drink coffee tonight, I'll go to sleep maybe about noon tomorrow.

The mugs hold two cups of liquid. Stainless steel interiors, and comfy handles. The bottoms are tapered to fit into a mug holder in the car. One is metallic olive green, and the other is metallic gray, with black trim and Noah's logo.

Two cups of coffee should take me halfway to Los Angeles should I decide to drive. Along with care instructions, there's also a warning: "When filling with hot liquids, please allow beverage to cool to a drinkable temperature before drinking." Ya think??

So in the morning, instead of brewing a pot of tea and using my 1-1/4 cup tea mug, I'll brew a pot of coffee and use the 2 cup coffee mug and see how long it actually keeps the coffee hot. I may be able to get through the entire paper plus the crossword puzzle before the coffee cools off.

Other than that not much else to report except that Backer Daughter's plane landed ON TIME! And the Christmas crowds were pretty tame. Actually, there was quite a long line at the outside check-in at Southwest Airlines, but other than that, business moved along smoothly and quickly. I guess most everybody else was already at their Christmas destinations, so the late travellers actually had an easier time.

Oh, yes, the airport actually has handicapped parking near the terminal. One of the porters offered me a wheelchair when I approached the terminal, but I told him it wasn't necessary, that I would be waiting for a passenger rather than being a passenger. That was nice of him, and I thanked him for his consideration.

That airport is getting huge. There's an enormous building going up just for parking. The last time I travelled, I did ask for a wheelchair because from the entry to the building to the boarding area was far beyond my walking ability. I think it's even farther now.

So, that was my day today, and I'm even farther behind on my mail. So, maybe I should go there and try to clear some before I go to bed.

Sweet dreams, y'all.

Oooohhhhhhhh, I AM a coffee drinker, and does that coffee ever sound wonderful! Yummmmmm. I've looked at those types of mugs myself, they are very nice. I think I shall pick up some of my favorite instant cappuchino mix today. *smile*
