Summer...still
Tue Oct 12 2004

Summer seems to be reluctant to leave. We have a few "normal" days for the season, then all of a sudden we get the hot, dry wind, and the temperature 90 degrees or so.

My bedroom has not yet cooled off and time time is now 11:17 pm.

The trees are just barely showing color. I keep checking the camellia bushes around the apartments. Some of them are heavy with buds, and others appear to have been clipped to the point of no buds. For some reason, I think of camellias as being spring into summer kind of flowers, but here they're actually late fall into winter blooms. I need to go check my gardening book. And pansies. They bloom all winter long around here. How did "pansy" come to be a pejorative name for a weakling? They're about as hardy as a plant can be. Well, maybe not in the snow, but we so rarely get snow here the notion is moot.

Y'know, I'm kind-a tired of chocolate. I expect most of that ten pounds is going to be around for awhile.

Well, I'm babbling. So I'll shut up and go to bed now.

Shalom

We are having a cooler week than last.. At night it gets down to 40's but days are in 70's. (Desert weather)
I sleep with my bedroom window cracked open and it gets nice and chilly. I love it. But, the snow I can wait for
Interesting your comments on "Pansy".. They are hardy.. I have never thought of it..

RYC: we used to have more things growing in the garden when we just bought the house. My strong approach to the gardening:"if it ain't grow by itself, it never ment to be there" resulted in completely weeding out all unnessesary greenies, that would transfer me into plantation slave. Now I can fully enjoy occasional seasonal leaves cleaning and pears gathering...That's as far as my gardening skills goes...:-)
But before, when we rented too, I remember my son dreaming of the garden, full of water-melons" (good thing, he forgot about it before he's got an allocated garden space)

Hee, hee... I LOVE chocolate! I can never get sick of it, and eat it everyday! I would ask you to send your chocolate to me, but it would melt here! We are in 'spring' but it's like SUMMER!! :)

Hang in there as here in the Hi Country it was 27 and 28 forecast tomorrow morning . THE Garden is toast.
I have seen a number of Flat head Doe's and three spike bucks but nothing to get exiceted about execpt the gas bill. Now when you pay $2,52 for reg. gas it does not set well for I could have 1/4
beef for all me Lic fee and gas. This Sun. the mountain man maddness ends and I may buy a good bottle of Jack to wash down the DEER tag soup.
It has been a long DRY season and few good Bucks have been taken, so I only hunt as far as I can pack one out alone as otherwise you just eat him where you drop him I is to old to spend the nite in the cold with no fire as fire ban is still in effect. It is a BEAR to get OLD and TV just don't cut it..
