Family gathering
Thu Jun 29 2006

It's a happy-sad get together.  This will be the last time I'll see Megan and Rowena for a long time.  They'll be headed for Vancouver in the morning.  We said our goodbyes tonight.

But it was a fun get-together.  We didn't do it often enough.  Megan, Rowena, Gryffan and Tracey.  Lots of laughs, silly punchlines,  The kind of conversations only families have who have had a lot of fun together.  Birthdays are not serious around here.  We're a great group for bouncing one-liners off each other.

We went to Fresh Choice, a restaurant I love because I can get all the salad I want, and the choice is pretty close to endless.  I always have the tapioca pudding for dessert.  Nobody ever made tapioca pudding like my grandmother's, but Fresh Choice comes as close as makes nonevermind.

When we got back to my place, Rowena and Gryffan hung around the computer.  Megan, Tracey and I had some "girl talk" and general razzing of each other.  Megan cut my toenails, but she managed to draw blood on one toe.  Well, I admit my toenails grow pretty close to the flesh, but I didn't think skin was part of the toenail.

Gryffan and Tracey left after awhile, Rowena continued on the puter, and Megan and I watched CSI:Las Vegas.  Then it came time to say goodbye.

Godspeed, and be safe!

Shalom

And thanks to all my wonderful DD friends for all your birthday wishes and e-cards!! Such fun to open my email and see that a lot of people have taken time to wish me good on MY day.

Blessings on all of you.

Better later then never...Happy birthday to you, Chaya! Many happy returns and I still have hopes for your visit ;-)
And remember: people don't generally leave, they are always with us wherever we wish - some in our memories, some - in our thoughts, others - just a "click" away ;-)
    Best wishes.

It doesn't have to be a very long time IF you go traveling.. visit them once they are settled in.

I know you are all going to miss one another so much!

Happy Birthday, dear Chaya! Has my little card arrived yet? I know you've picked up my e-card because I received the notifier e-mail.

The three generations in your family get along so well together. The three generations in mine don't even speak the same language, literally. We struggled to hold a conversation with our grandparents in Cantonese, which is the Chinese dialect most widely spoken in our state, while my grandparents replied in a mixture of Cantonese and Hokkien, which is our clan dialect, but which we can't speak at all. Family reunions sure were a major challenge.

Trust the young ones to hover towards the computer at the first opportunity. Humph.

Ouchies! Your poor toe! Maybe Megan needs a new pair of glasses! I hope your toe has recovered now, and that you are no longer in pain.

Fresh Choice sounds like my kind of place. The only salad bars I get around here are the ones in Pizza Hut. I could do with variety.

    Many Happy Returns, dear Chaya.

    Lots of Love,
    E.L. & all at home.
