Shoe shopping
Wed Jun 15 2005

Rena and I went shopping for summer shoes for her. Besides, the shoes she wears for "dress" just don't fit properly anymore. It was an exercise in futility.

The shoes I liked she thought were terrible. The shoes she liked I thought were terrible. And expensive.

We're going to try Target tomorrow. If we can't agree on anything there, I guess she'll just have to continue wearing her big clunky tennies when she goes out.

*****************

DIPYRIDAMOLE: Used to prevent platelets from clumping in the arteries and causing strokes or heart attack. Dosage: Two 50 mg tabs twice a day, on an empty stomach. Some common side effects: dizziness, stomach discomfort, headache, or rash.

Well, of course I have to be different. I was in extreme pain. Deep, bone pain. It hurt to sit, stand or walk. I couldn't lie on my back, even, but I was somewhat less pained lying on my right side. And sitting on the hard toilet seat was excrutiating! I took two extra strength Tylenol, which dulled the pain, but didn't get rid of it.

After two days of not taking the pills, I'm going to try halving the dose and taking it with food and see what happens. If the pain returns, then I call my doctor and tell him we need to find another medication.

Of course, there are other meds for just my problem, but they're expensive, proprietary, and not covered by my HMO. Of course.

The Festival of Shavuot has come and gone. It's a two-day festival, and because of the above described medication, I was in bed the first day. But the second day, I was able to celebrate with all the stuff I'm not supposed to have for weight control: ice cream, cheesecake--oh, you know, all those high calorie, yummy dairy desserts.

But seriously, we celebrate the giving of the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. It's a joyous occasion, but it reminds us of our responsibilities toward G'd and our fellows.

The weather was grand, and we had our food-fest outdoors under the wonderful trees.

************

But it's supposed to rain on Friday. And the temperature is going down again. What weird weather we're having. I'm telling you right now, if it rains on my birthday party, I'm going to be mightily pissed!!!

It's bedtime, and there's more I could be writing about, but I think I'll let it go. Not all that interesting, anyway.

Shalom

I'm terrible with shopping as it is but shoe shopping is my nightmare. I'm both of you in one me - picking up shoes I like and putting them back for one or another reasons, you've stated already. I like my shoes to be pretty, sexy and that I won't feel them...unfortunately, this all implies me walking barefoot :-)
Your mentioning Mount of Sinai remided me of one area of Egypt I didn't get a chance to visit and they say meeting sunrise in Sinai is One In a Lifetime experience...well...just another reason to go back there...(can't wait!)

Hope you're feeling better by now. I hate new medications because it takes so long to get comfortable with them.
