A little of this, a little of that
Wed Jan 07 2004

Today was an overcast, gloomy, chilly day. The predicted rain didn't come. But it was a lovely day, anyway.

I had lunch at Yetzirah's home, and spent the better part of the afternoon chatting about this, that and another thing. She makes wonderful split pea soup and British baps to go with. Oh, never heard of a bap? Well, neither did I, so I looked it up in my Webster's when I got home. Definition: a small loaf or roll of bread; dialectical, archaic; British. Oh, so good! Lightweight and very tasty! She also made another batch with cinnamon and sugar on top.

And bless her sweet, generous heart--she sent some home with me. Aaaahhh!!

Before I went to Yetz's house, I stopped at the store and bought two large boxes of Arm & Hammer kitty litter. And what I thought was a larger pan, but found out it's the same size as the old one. Well that's OK. I just bleached and scrubbed the old pan and use it now for her kitty dishes and other utensils.

My cat is a very messy cat. I'm constantly sweeping up after she uses the box. So, I put the lid back on. For awhile she was refusing to use the box when the lid was on, but I guess she's decided it's OK now. At least when she flings litter around, it stays in the box now.

I have almost a whole bag of clay-type litter left. I wonder if my daughter will use it in her cat boxes?

I keep telling Megan she's going to have to get a kennel license. All together, they have a rabbit and five cats. One of the cats and the rabbit have become buddies, and the cat grooms the rabbit in the areas he can't reach, like his face, his ears, his throat, the back of his neck. It's a sight, let me tell you.

I wish I could post pictures on my site. I have a photo of that cat in a large pretzel jar (no pretzels). She was just a baby, of course, but she thought the jar was a fine place to rest in. As she got larger she could brace herself, and wouldn't come out of the jar even if it was tipped so the opening was facing the floor.

I got some interesting mail from Social Security today. I get a raise this year for cost of living, but after my Medicare fee (which went up $11.60) is taken out, I come up with a grand total of $10 a month more than last year. Whoopee! Give the canary another seed.

So, on that happy note, I bid you all good night!

Shalom

Well, that $10 is a trip to Fresh Choice or the kosher deli. :-D You may even have enough left over for gumball!

i wonder if they'll ever come across a better way of keeping cats dirtboxes, perhaps they need to re-design the container the kitty litter sits in
i'm very glad my kittylitter days are over for now (unless i get a new kitten and have to house-train it), makes so much difference having an outdoor cat and catdoor

I love the way some animals bond together. I wish I could see the picture. Maybe you could get an account (free) at the new site I found and talked about on my latest entry.

Maybe you could use the old clay litter as a mulch around your flowers.

RYC: My name in buzznet is Ozone9999. Isn't it a great site? There are some very mediocre photographers, but some great ones too. I spent an hour each at two sites....one woman in the Czech Republic, and a man in southeast Asia. A great learning experience. I did see that Kahoolawe site....not many pics there, seems they have forgotten about it. I think a lele has something to do with an ancient religious practice...not sure. Some of these psuedo "native Hawaiians" take some of these practices and traditions to the extreem. It is more political than religious. They will be talking about the sacred "aina" (land) in one breath....and then throwing a dirty disposable diaper on the sand at the beach in another. It is all so phoney. Excuse the rant.

The cat and rabbit sound cute to watch. Coincidentally I saw some 'cabbits' on TV recently, supposedly cross cat/rabbit, but no one seemed sure. They were hoppy little kittens with no tails.
