I'm angry
Fri Sep 26 2008

This bail-out the gubment is considering makes me so mad I could spit!  These banks, WaMu in particular, and the Stock Exchange, in another particular, are crazy.

WaMu spends probably millions on TV ads promoting their freebies, and make freaky loans, and then goes bankrupt and wants the government (read:taxpayers) to bail them out.

And any time a big CEO sells some of his stock, or *gasp* retires, the Stock Exchange takes a hysterical dip, and everyone else gets hysterical.  Oh, yeah, and all those CEOs who are bailing out get the golden handshake when they depart. And then their company declares bankruptcy protection.

Hey, taxpayers.  Where do you think the billions of dollars are coming from to bail out irresponsible financial institutions?  My pocket. Your pocket. Yeah, ours!

Raise taxes. Oh, you bet! Are we in a recession?  Yeah. Are we headed for a depression. If we aren't, then I'm incorrectly reading all the signs.

Would somebody like to pay my rent, and maybe make the payments on my car? Then maybe I could afford to paint the apartment and put gas in my car.  Dream on.

So hunker down people and get ready to pay. You think your paychecks leave a bit to be desired now? Just wait. And be glad you have a paycheck.

so much for privatised banks, eh? Its either a free market system or its not.Whenever the money are involved, there is always someone who'll benefit from it. now I wonder: the Government is going to be the holder of the bank's assets, right? so who is in the Government? doesn't it looks like some sort of shifting of the money from taxpayers into the Big Guys pockets? that's the biggest "money laundering" operation I ever observed...
on a follow up thought...could this be related somehow to the fact that Paulson is the former CEO of Goldman Sachs?..

Chaya, dear, you said a mouthful!

WaMu is my bank. It had me worried, there, but I suppose now that JPMorganChase has bought it, things will stabilize.

My question: Every large bank in the country, practically, has failed or been bought out or rescued. What are we rescuing now?

sometimes I just want to cry, watching this country's economy disintegrate while the Republicans boo-hoo about not getting even more tax cuts for the wealthy!

Did you watch the debate last night??
You know my views.. I don't believe Bush and this scare tactic... he has to have a bail out in the next minute... :( whatever!!

as you wrote on my diary.. we'd be in jail if we'd tried some of these money laundering tactics.

RYC: he passed away on Friday but the press release didn't come through until this morning. As you said, he'd been unwell for months. At 83 years old I still found him one of the sexiest men I've ever seen not to mention a class act. Ms. Woodward was one lucky woman!

I know, that thing with the banks has happened here. One of the smaller ones collapsed and it affected those who lost their savings, homes, etc. I don't know if it's worse to make everyone pay extra taxes to save one bank or to let it go and have a ripple effect in the economy and another depression. I don't want to go through what my grandparents went through in Australia's Great Depression between the two world wars.
