Today is actually the 10th
Wed May 11 2005

Still lots of clouds today, but they're the big, fluffy white ones that are so beautiful against a blue sky. There was a bit of rain early this morning, but the rest of the day was pretty nice.

Someone suggested that maybe Ma Nature has been PMSing. I hope she's done with it for awhile. I like rain, but really, enough is enough.

Been reading an interesting book about the Korean War. Written in the first person, so I'm assuming that it's biographic. It was nasty over there. The book is The Four Deuces by C.S. Crawford. It was published in 1989, so if you're interested, you'll have to look in the used books stores. Where I got this, I don't remember. The Four Deuce was a 4.2 chemical mortar. "It's an army weapon that the marines have adapted to our specific use." As the story commences, reader learns that this was a really fine piece of artillery.

The language is a little salty, but if you want to know about Korea from a grunt's point of view, I recommend this book.

Other than some laundry, I didn't do anything of any significance today.

But this evening was good. It's the first night of an 8-week course from the Jewish Learning Institute. So every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, I'll be learning something new. Or maybe having an expanded knowledge of something I already know.

I've assigned myself a project. And it's going to take quite a bit of paper. I should have been doing this all along, but I just got it into my head that I'd like to have hard copies of my diaries since I started writing. Somebody mentioned an incident that I didn't recall writing about, which is why I came to this idea. I went out and bought two reams of paper and a large notebook.

So, I guess I'd best get printing. Oh, no, it won't get all done tonight. I do like to sleep, and it's not such a big deal to get it done. However, I'm going to have to figure a way to get directly to a particular diary. There is a way, isn't there?

Shalom

    Dear Chaya,

You are Lifelong Learning personnified! I really admire you for your devotion to learning! I support the choice you have made and would love to join in too as I am fascinated by Judaism and would love to have an elementary knowledge of Hebrew and Yiddish as well.

Being an ex-army wife, I guess you can never stay away from books and movies about war, for long. I think it is important that we all learn history in order not to repeat mistakes that those before us had made. I love reading different perspectives on war and armament because I think it is vital that we know what motivates nations to use force. There are laws of war and I think there are many ways in which we can improve their enforcement and efficacy.

I am sorry to hear that Mothers' Day wasn't anything extraordinary for you. I will try to make it up to you for that.

    Have a great week, Chaya.

    Lots of Love,
    E.L.

While there is probably an easier way to do it, I don't know about it. So...

What I would do is start with the first entry and click on read comments so that I printed out the comments, too, and then just print one after the other until I was ready to be done for the time being. Then I would click next and bookmark it. That way you would know where to start the next time. When you go back to print some more, delete the last bookmark and when you are done, add another. That's how I would accomplish such a monumental task.

    Good luck!
    Love,
    ~Cali
