CAR!!!!

I had no intention of buying a car today.  I was just browsing.

But this gorgeous young man (Persian, I later found out) saw me coming.  We walked around awhile until I just couldn't walk another step.  I already had my eye on a cute little fire-engine red car, so we talked about that one.  Took her out for a drive.  Oh! My!

As it turns out, payments for that little beauty were more than I wanted to sign up for, so Gorgeous Persian showed me her white friend.  Turns out the white could meet my payment terms.  But there's a funny catch.

The red was an '03 model, while the white is an '04 model.  Same car, just different color and a year's difference in age.  Yeah, the newer car was cheaper than the other one.  Ever hear of such a thing?

I was pretty much hooked by that time.  So the credit manager and I were able to come to terms, and I drove off the lot with the cutest little Dodge Neon.  Purrs along on 4 cylinders, and has get up go like you wouldn't believe!

What happened to the Old Girl?  Well, she's sitting in the driveway, waiting to be turned in as a California polluter.  I have to get with the DMV and get papers and red tape taken care of.  Then I can drive her to the dismantlers, get the $1,000 that the State of California so generously pays for auto retirement.  Oh, and get the new one on my auto insurance.

Have an appointment with an ophthalmologist tomorrow.  I expect I'll have to get new lenses this time.  Had these for 6-7 years.  Probably has something to do with the small headaches I'm having lately.   I'll let you know.

Bless

Congratulations! It's great to have a car without a bunch of rattles and mechanical problems after having one that had a lot of "quirks."

In the long run you'll be glad you got the white because they stay clean looking a lot longer than deep colors, believe it or not.

Congratulations on your new wheels.. How exciting!!!
and what a deal.. I bet you have lower mileage and everything on this "cheaper" model.. Dodges are good engines too..

California will give you a grand for retiring a car??? Heck.. I'm driving down with 3 of them....
    LOL
Good luck at eye doc.. I sure need to go.. reading a tiny, teeny font 1000 Charles Dickens book.. and if this doesn't do in my eyes.. nothing will..

Plus.. cops always pull over red cars.. and when I had my red mustang.. i swear I got hit 3 times in parking lots.. in a couple months.. For some reason red attracts trouble.. White is best....

and I didn't finish my sentance about the tiny print on my 1000 page.. C. Dickens book.. Dha.. page.. pages... yeah. that is what I forgot

RYC: Brown eggs, definately, as they have deeper colored yolks. I'd actually wondered if anyone would ask that question so I guess you are the grand prize winner!

A new car! Wow, congratulations! When I saw your entry title, my first thought was... "Baby! Chaya had a baby!"

    LOL, aren't I nuts?

It is strange that you had to pay more for a car that is one year older than the one you got, but color does play a role in the cost. In the East, the Chinese pay more for license plates with 'good numbers'. 8 is good because it means 'fortune' or 'wealth'. 28 means 'gain wealth easily'. 38 means 'alive and wealthy'. 98 means 'wealthy enough'. 4 is a bad number because it means death.

It's easy for any entrepreneur to fleece the Chinese. We are such a superstitious bunch.

Again, congratulations on your new car. I am sure it will give you a lot of joy.

    Love,
    E.L.
