Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur are past. Welcome the New Year, new resolutions.

For the first time I managed the 26-hour fast on Yom Kippur without feeling faint, dizzy, or even hungry. By 7:00 pm, I was beginning to feel a little bit hungry, but was able to ignore it until after the services were over and it came to be "break the fast" time. I did take a swallow of water to take my pills, but that's OK, as it's a matter of health.

Today was a very lazy Sunday. I read the paper, did the NY Times crossword puzzle, read a few chapters in a book, napped, watched some TV this evening, and generally did nothing. Tomorrow, I'll have to go to the grocery store, but there's nothing else of any importance on the calendar.

Had an appointment with my doctor on Thursday. Oops, high blood pressure. So now I'm on Diazide. I put off the first dose until this morning because I knew I would be running to the bathroom frequently, and experience dry mouth requiring gallons of water. No can do during Yom Kippur.

Anyway, because of the blood pressure and a couple other things, I asked my doctor for a complete physical, which I haven't had since I can't remember. I've had some tests done from time to time, but it's all been piecemeal. So I think it's time to do a head-to-toe survey. I go back in four weeks. Should have some positive results from the Diazide by that time, too.

Note to Bobbi: I finally sent in that application for free/reduced cost medications. Showed the form to my doctor, and he's familiar with the organization. Even gave me a prescription for Actonel to send in with the application, but since I'd already mailed it, I guess I'll hang onto the script and see what happens.

I still don't understand how I can take a couple really hard spills and not have any broken bones, and just end up with huge bruises. If my bones are so fragile that I need Actonel, how come??? Doctor says "Just lucky, I guess."

Note to Anne: Your suggestion worked. We're communicating again. Thanks.

Put an ad in the local paper to sell my organ. Some phone calls, and a couple people came by to see, but no sale yet. It's a beautiful Hammond, but I don't play anymore, and I really need the space for something else.

Well, that's enough about me for now.

Shalom

    Dear Chaya,

Congratulations on completing the fast! Your resolve and self-discipline are really commendable!

Ramadhan for the Muslims is beginning soon. I too am attempting to fast together with my Muslim friends. It's easier when the whole bunch of you are skipping lunch together and going to the library, than doing it alone when everyone else around you is eating.

I hope you get a good and genuine buyer for the piano. It would be a pity to see it go to someone who cannot appreciate it fully.

I wish you good health and happiness for the New Year, Chaya.

    Lots of Love,
    E.L.

A guy in a crock pot.

He would have to be a very *little* guy wouldn't he?

Hello! RYC: I'll be changing my themes a lot! I get bored with stuff and I like playing around with things, but for sure when the seasons change you will see a new theme for winter.

I am borderline high blood pressure and also blood sugar too. Glad you are on meds, and that you are going to have a physical. It's always best to stay on top of things, and so many healthy issues can be avoided or curtailed with early treatment.

I am going to get my meds from Canada I believe, it is much cheaper there. There is a web site you might check into - www.rx-counter.com I think it is. I can't live without my meds and I'm not sure when I'll have insurance again.

We got an organ from Harvey's stepmother, but it just sat in the corner so Harvey is either going to find a church that might use it or give it to the local mission so at least it will get some use.

Happy New Year to you! I have been thinking about goal setting and needing to focus on them, both short-term and long-term. It's always good to plan, even if the plan changes midstream.

Glad you got through your fast with few problems!

I hope you are having a wonderful day today.

OMG, I completely misread that line in your first entry. I thought you said you put an ad in the paper to see your ORGANS and had a couple of people come to see *giggles* madly*.

Ignore me, I am under the influence of multiple drugs...
