Well, I got home about five minutes before she arrived. She wanted to drive. Sacramento has a bunch of one-way streets in downtown and midtown, so it's a good thing I was there recently because D. had no idea where we were going, but fortunately, I did. Not the shop exactly, but the area.
Anyway, I bought some very nice yarn. It has 25% wool, which I'm allergic to, so I put a skein against my face and neck, and had no reaction. Since it's a shawl I want to make, I decided to take a chance. I had intended to get black, but I found a very nice charcoal, and decided that was a better choice anyway. But now I'm running into a problem. The pattern I want to use isn't working and I can't figure out why. It's a pattern I've used before and had no problem with, and I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Well, I'll figure it out eventually.
We had quite a bit of rain last night, and the morning looked threatening, but the skies began clearning around noon. The afternoon was really nice. Autumn temperature, huge cumulus clouds on the horizon and over the Sierra. Beautiful. I mentioned in a previous diary that one of the ski areas is already open, and I saw on the news this evening that another will open this weekend, and the rest during the middle of November. Hey, that's just a couple weeks away. So with the rain in the valley, the mountains got snow. Another 3-4 feet. The mountains are gorgeous when they're snow-capped.
Now, for a bit of bureaucratic idiocy: Some schools are disallowing any Halloween parties/celebrations at the schools because the witch costumes may offend those who practice the religion and rites of Wicca. Well, my daughter is Wicca, and she hasn't made any complaints. So, by the same reasoning, when are they going to disallow Christmas and Easter because those celebrations might offend Jews and Muslims. And Buddhists. And Hindus. And atheists?
Tch!
Peace, friends, peace!!
