Hot hot hot!!!
Sun Jul 23 2006

Megan tells me that the Portland-Vancouver area is having a heat wave.  I checked the weather news and saw that Portland registered 90 degrees.  Pikers!  Yesterday was 109 here--breaking a heat record set in 1877!--with a low of 79--beating a record set in 1918.  I turned on the cooler at 9am, and turned it off at midnight.

Today is expected to be 110, and the cooler was turned on about 8:30.

Yesterday late afternoon I went to the mailbox and seared my eyeballs.

How do people live in places where searing heat is the norm?

I wish I could afford a summer home and a winter home.  Winter here is tolerable.  Spring and fall are glorious.  Summer home someplace in Alaska maybe?

Pity the troops in Iraq.  Baghdad is 111 today, and the military carry 50 pounds of equipment, and they don't have air conditioning.  Yep, there's always something to be grateful for.

Shalom

I want to find a place where the temperature year round is between 55 and 75. That is my Camelot! Dry or rainy, I don't care as long as those are the high's and low's!

have to admit I hadn't thought of the troops..
Wow.. you are hotter than us
But.. our humidity is making up for it..
jsut horrid.. cloths stick to your skin..
hair sticks to everything.. course my hair is always falling out!!!
It is just so uncomfortable ... and even the nights don't cool it off
so.. it never gets cool .. and we start off hot
this swamp cooler is a waste of time.. but I keep it on 24-7
I'll take that heat wave in Portland-Vancouver
my brother lives near that area too

Chaya, I don't want to sound obtuse or naggy, but at your age, I hope you make every effort to avoid heat exhaustion and dehydration. Please keep hydrated at all times.

    Take care.

    Love,
    E.L.
