It's official

I do indeed have bronchitis. The first time in five years! Used to be a regular winter thing.

That's what I get for wanting a social life. I go out in public and get exposed to all those germs. Well, I can't be a hermit all my life, I guess. Though sometimes that seems preferable.

My doctor loaded me with samples, and gave me a prescription for Amoxycillin. I can expect a couple days of nausea before my GI tract decides to accept that foreign substance.

I guess I can handle a little nausea if it will stop the incessant coughing. My chest hurts. My ribs hurt. My throat hurts. Oh, BTW: I've found a wonderful throat lozenge. My doctor asked me if I wanted some cough syrup, and I told him "No, I don't want any codeine." The lozenge brand is Ricola. It comes in several flavors, but I prefer the "Natural Herb Cough Drops." They taste good, soothe the throat, and help ease the cough.

Oh, yes, and the dear man is always flipping through the records and looking for something that needs doing this year. I get to have a colonoscopy this year. Well, not this year, exactly. More like right away. I really don't mind the procedure, although it's a little uncomfortable, and definitely embarrassing having my bum sticking bare-out. What I really hate is the prep. And I'm not going into that. Anyone who has ever had a colonoscopy knows what I'm talking about.

The last time I had this procedure done, the doctor positioned the screen so I could see what was going on inside me. Maybe this other doctor will do the same. It's interesting. But then I suppose (past and present) nurses find things interesting that turn off other people.

Got new vetical blinds installed today. When I was taking down a curtain in the spare bedroom (aka junk room), I noticed that part of the wall is about to peel off. Make Note: Call manager in the morning.

Well, duckies, it's been a tiring day. Think I'll go take a nap before NCIS comes on at 9pm. If I'm still awake at the end of the program I'll go to bed. Otherwise I'll sleep in my recliner. I plan on spending most of tomorrow in bed, and hope plenty of rest and medications will knock out this bronchitis.

Shalom

Well, it's official. You make the third person I know who has bronchitis. My mother included.

It's a damp cold year...and no wonder you were so tired! Get well soon!

My doc always told me to take antibiotics with yogurt. I don't know if it was just "her thing" or if there was any science behind it. I do know since I started doing that I have fewer GI complaints than I did before.

I knew you had bronchitis when I heard that coughing spell you had last night on the phone! I'm glad you got in to see the doctor, and I'm glad you got an antibiotic prescription
and some other medication samples. Get well soon!

P.S. Miriam isn't going to work. The reason is in Monday's comments.

Oh dear, poor Chaya. No wonder your body wanted to have rests!
Ah yes, I can commiserate with the colonoscopies. Had quite a few of those. I found it best to be caffeine-free at least one week ahead and to have only light food, soups and such a day or two before the prep. Pawpaw ointment also for *ahem* any tenderness you may experience.
But you have to get over your bronchitis first.
    Lots of love from Thubten

Aw, I'm sorry to hear you are sick! Yes, I guess the downside to a social life is germs.
Some of the trees up here are getting buds on them, so spring in on the way!
Feel better soon, I love Ricola cough drops.
