Willy Wonka
Sat Mar 21 2009

I love that movie, and I watch it every time it comes on television. I wonder if there's a DVD available, or even a tape.

Anyway the children of Shalom School put on Willy Wonka Jr last Thursday.  I had to go, of course, because my Nicole had a part in it. For those of you who know the story, you know that Ms Salt is the mother of the spoiled brat. Come to think of it, all of them fit that description, with the exception of Charlie Bucket.

Charlie Bucket was played by very small ten-year-old girl, a friend of Nicole's, incidentally. I had no idea the child had such talent. She has all the moves, and a voice way beyond her years. When I finally caught up with her after the show, I told her she quite blew me away. I told her we'd see her eventually on American Idol. Her response quite blew me away, too. With absolute aplomb and surety of purpose, she said "Or Broadway."

Later, when I saw her mother, I repeated the conversation. She said that Courtney and her sister are quite sure that Broadway is in their future.  I wouldn't be at all surprised!!
