And I can't sleep.

I also lost my entry that I just got typed and ready to send.

Things are on the mend. The incision looks good, and the bowel are working. Overtime. I'm pootin' and tootin' like the little fishingboat out in the harbor. And my hemorrhoid is sore. I brought home some cream that's skin protectant, but it's working nicely to keep the hemorrhoid from bleeding.

I need to find food that doesn't cause gas. The surgeon said to take it easy on fruits and vegetables for a while. Yogurt and noodles in cup are good, but I think I'll probably get kind of tired of that.as my sole diet. I think buttered spaghetti will be good, but I want some of the roasted garlic sauce that's waiting for me in the pantry.

The weather has been wonderful. Very cool at night, cool in the morning and pleasantly warm in the afternoon. I've been spending a lot of time on the patio.

I need to make appointments with the surgeon and my primary care doc. The surgeon will decide when I should start coumadin again, and I wish I didn't have to take it at all. Ever since I started it, when? a year ago? I've been having nosebleeds. But I guess I don't want a clot and a stroke, either. I had nosebleeds in the summer when we lived in El Paso, but that was from dried out are irritated nasal passages.

I'm also looking for volunteer mentor job. One of the schools here had such a program, but then decided they wanted us to tutor. That's not my bag. I got some glowing reports from teachers as to my mentees' progress, and that was very gratifying. I like kids, and I'd like to get back into something like that. I think maybe I'll keep in touch with them afterwards, too. There was one girl who blossomed, and I'd like to see how she did in high school. Maybe when school starts in the Fall, I'll have found something like that.

My classical radio station is playing classical jazz now. I gotta get out my Dave Brubeck tapes.

Well, I think I'm getting a little sleepy, and I'm cold. The window is open and letting in the night air. Oh yeah, I could close the window. But then I'd just have to open it again.

Bless

AH you are on the MEND . We have those type nights and the mind just keeps whirling . This too will pass as your energy returns.I watched the whole series The Band of Brothers on the History CH yesterday for the 5th .time . I feel the need to honor those who severed in and died least we forget. For those who carry what they have seen and survied sleep, is never easy for it returns and lasts till they die.

Sorry about the boring diet. But hey, be nice to the plumbing. I'm sure it's a great blessing to have the plumbing back in place!!!

Your entry reminds me of a song by Rob Thomas about his wife's illness. It was called 3 a.m.

She says it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat
She's always worried about things like that
She says it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining

(chorus)
She says baby
It's 3 am I must be lonely
When she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
And the rain's gonna wash away I believe it

She's got a little bit of something, God it's better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all
She swears the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining

(chorus)

She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway
But outside it's stopped raining

(chorus)

Have you tried those yogurts with the special biotics in them like Activia? I have eaten them and they really do help regulate your digestive tract. They have the biotics in pill form too now. Hope you feel better soon. I hate those nasty hemmorroids!!

It is wonderful everything is working properly, only a little too well...maybe?
These things take time to heal as you know.
Rest is good. Get lots of it.
Praying for a speedy recovery.
Love and hugs, Tiggs

You sound good! very positive with great plans..
I am wondering why they didn't repair the hemorrhoid while you were having the surgery!?? Guess they had enough to do...
shoot.. I'd mention that when they talk about the Coumadin - my dad takes it too and any garden scratch he gets bleeds and bleeds and bleeds.. Plus he gets black and blue bruises from a bump.....

It's good to know that Banshee and Missy are on their best behaviour for your benefit. Now that's one more blessing to count.

Am sorry to hear about the gas and bleeding. It scares me that I'm so far away that I might not get enough news from you quickly enough. Whenever you're away from your Diary for more than a few days, I go into fits of anxiety.

I love the idea of you mentoring. They should match you with the best groups or programs according to your interest. And since you achieved some success with your young proteges in the past, it would be stupid of them not to let you mentor again. You could also be a Cuddler for cats, puppies, kittens and quiet dogs at the local animal shelter. It would help the animals feel good and learn to trust humans again. There are so many things you could do at your age and health levels. It's good to have something to look forward to.

Much Love,
E.L.

RYC: Take a look at the usage note on the bottom:

From Dictionary.com:

in⋅fer  /ɪnˈfɜr/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [in-fur] Show IPA verb, -ferred, -fer⋅ring.
?verb (used with object) 1. to derive by reasoning; conclude or judge from premises or evidence: They inferred his displeasure from his cool tone of voice.
2. (of facts, circumstances, statements, etc.) to indicate or involve as a conclusion; lead to.
3. to guess; speculate; surmise.
4. to hint; imply; suggest.

?verb (used without object) 5. to draw a conclusion, as by reasoning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Origin:
1520?30; < L inferre, equiv. to in- in- 2 + ferre to bring, carry, bear 1

Related forms:

in⋅fer⋅a⋅ble, in⋅fer⋅i⋅ble, in⋅fer⋅ri⋅ble, adjective
in⋅fer⋅a⋅bly, adverb
in⋅fer⋅rer, noun

Synonyms:
1. deduce, reason, guess.

Usage note:
Infer has been used to mean ?to hint or suggest? since the 16th century by speakers and writers of unquestioned ability and eminence: The next speaker criticized the proposal, inferring that it was made solely to embarrass the government. Despite its long history, many 20th-century usage guides condemn the use, maintaining that the proper word for the intended sense is imply and that to use infer is to lose a valuable distinction between the two words.
Although the claimed distinction has probably existed chiefly in the pronouncements of usage guides, and although the use of infer to mean ?to suggest? usually produces no ambiguity, the distinction too has a long history and is widely observed by many speakers and writers.
