Tricia
Fri May 05 2006

Tricia had her surgery yesterday, and is feeling fine.  Had a lumpectomy, which she described as like the biopsy.  (Meaning no big deal?)  She will be seeing her doctor next week, and will find out then if more treatment (chemo?) will be necessary.  I rather expect that she'll be on Tamoxifen the next 5 years, as that has been standard practice, but I'll know more when she knows more.

We ask for continued prayers, and thank all of you who have been praying for Trish.  I'm expecting complete, uncomplicated recovery.

*********

I forgot to write about yesterday's Leisure League luncheon.  I was a little disappointed in the luncheon, as that particular sponsoring synagogue is one of the two best for outstanding meals.

The entertainment was a clarinetist and a keyboardist playing all the songs we fogies love.  All the melodies that bring back sweet memories.  And are eminently danceable!  There's plenty of room on the floor for dancing, and some people did.  I was asked to dance a slow dance, and in spite of my hip problems, the dance went well and was pleasant.  That particular man I would like to see again.

It was great sitting at a table with friends and catching up with those I don't see except maybe once a month.  If I didn't hate telephone socializing the way I do, I could be kept caught up, but telephones for me are for short, uncomplicated, make-an-appointment calls.

Tried the 99 cent store again for bananas, but they were OUT.  Don't feel like making the trip again today, so I guess I'll go without my morning banana for the weekend.

Peach has been spending her day at the bottom of the aquarium, waving her fins.  I hope that doesn't mean she's nesting.  Already???  Keep tuned.

Shalom

The editing was quite helpful, thank you!

I'm taking one class for the summer, from May 20 through July 19, and I have a short break until the fall term starts on August 7. So no rest for the wicked!

Lumpectomies are similar to biopsies, except they take the whole lump instead of a biopsy of it. Depending on what they find with that determines of and what treatment course to take after that. It might be chemo, it might be a tumor bed extraction (where they take out all the tissue surrounding where the lump was to be sure there are no cells left) or it could be something more radical than that.

Cool about going with the name Schnapps!

I'm so glad the procedure went well, or at least as well as those sorts of things go. I'm praying the results are good.

Yay for having fun at the dance! That's wonderful!

I am so relieved for Tricia! Please Get Well Soon, dear Tricia!

Sounds like you had an enjoyable Leisure League Luncheon even though the food wasn't awesome. I would choose music over food. I think I'd enjoy the same kind of music you do. I don't belong to my generation at all.

Oh Peach, you didn't! You naughty girl!

Sending you lots of virtual bananas and love,
    E.L.

    Dearest Chaya,

It's been 20 days since you updated your Diary. I hop all is well. I don't want to sound like an alarmist or a worrywart but I care for you and want to make sure you are well and happy.

This is just to let you know that we've adopted a stray kitten. His name is Pixie. Chloe was initially jealous but they get along fine now. Watching them play together keeps us in stitches!

    Love,
    E.L.
