The food was wonderful, as usual.
The program was presented by a small opera company here in Sacramento. They've been around several years, but this is the first time I heard about them. The flyer that was mailed out said they were presenting excerpts form Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, Instead they presented excerpts from Figaro and two other operas. One of the others was from The Magic Flute, I can't remember the other one. There were two sopranos and one bass-baritone. He was great as Figaro, funny.
I really enjoy Mozart. His music makes me feel light-hearted. There are other composers I like as well, but Mozart has that fun feeling for me.
One of the sopranos was a little bit of a woman, but she had a strong voice. The other soprano was a larger woman (not Brunhilde size), and her voice was mellower. She and the man did a lovely duet from Magic Flute on the joys of a loving marriage. Beautifully done, and sweet and touching. The piano accompanist was great!
This particular synagogue presents first class entertainment, always.
I'm still full from the luncheon. I think dinner will be more of the snack variety.
Shalom

- From:CovertOps (Legacy)On:Fri Feb 03 2006Dearest Chaya,
I am so glad you had a great time! Food and music are two of my greatest pleasures as well. Like you, I too find Mozart's music uplifting and joyful. The Magic Flute is one of my favorite operas, and Einn Klein Nachtmusik is one of my favorite pieces. Chloe loves piano music, and purrs when we put on Bach or Mozart, to the point that we have begun to use classical music as bait when we want her to come out of wherever she is hiding.
I hope you are having a good week! I wish you could come visit us for the Chinese New Year. Although I must admit San Francisco is a hang of a lot closer to Sacramento than Kuala Lumpur is.
Take care and love to Banshee and KK!
