The title says it all.
We're having intermittent power outages. Which means I have to reprogram my TV each time. So I think I'll wait until just before candle lighting time to do it. Hope the TV stays on long enough to record the two programs I like to watch on Friday evening.
Cooking and heating are gas, so no problem there.
One thing I'm sure of: I will not be walking to synagogue tomorrow morning. I think a lot of people will not be walking tomorrow morning. I think some people will not even be driving. Gusts are up to 50 miles per hour. I think windshield wipers probably can't keep up with the rain.
The apartment building across the common area from me is somewhat lower than this building. Consequently, the two bottom floor patios are flooded. I think they need sandbags.
I was on my patio a little while ago, just testing the storm. Had to move the cushion from the chair, as it was getting wet. Some small pots with artificial plants got blown off the railing. I'll rescue them when it's not so wet out.
I think this storm is going to be a record-breaker. And if there isn't a leak in one of the levees, I'll be surprised. Downed trees all over the city will short-circuit electrical power, probably seriously damage cars at the curbs, and maybe even the roofs of the homes under the trees. Happens every year, but this year will be worse. In the 20-plus years I've lived in Sacramento, I can't recall a storm like this. And there are two more in the northwest Pacific waiting to come. The major part of this storm is due to hit tomorrow morning. The MAJOR part?! That's what the paper said this morning.
When I was out on the patio, I saw some stuff on the lawn that looked like artificial roof shingles. I think that's exactly what's being blown off the roof of these buildings. I think there may be a problem.
I'm glad I went shopping. I'm good for at least a week, except for milk, and I can do without that for a few days if necessary. Not easy to go without milk, but I'll survive. Oh, I can survive a lot longer. I just checked the pantry, and I have beans and rice enough for a month.
My life is pretty boring of late, but I'm going to try to write something here every day. I need the discipline.
Bless

- From:Dustbunny3 (Legacy)On:Sat Jan 05 2008I always think of what the Donner Pass travlers went through. I know you will be up to the storm but remember if the power goes so does the HEAT if needed for it requires a fan to work. I worry about the L.A. area getting heavy rain after the fires for Mud slides will can really make for a disaster.I miss our wood stove for you could always say warm even in the high country.
A storm like this is a wake up call we need now and then.
You will do well for I know you have been there befor. - From:Welshamethyst (Legacy)On:Sat Jan 05 2008Hunker down and ride it out! Thank goodness you have groceries to get you through! The real question is whether or not you have enough kitty litter?????
We just had a nasty spell here with a high temp of 18 and 50 mph winds. Lovely. Drove the windchill well south of zero. Strangely enough, the high here on Sunday is supposed to be 58 degrees *quirks eyebrows*.
Hugs & Love - From:Mamallama (Legacy)On:Sat Jan 05 2008Stay dry.

Hugs, Tiggs - From:DancingButterfly (Legacy)On:Sat Jan 05 2008Weird you have a storm, and so do we... I know we'll ride it out. Eventually. Our floods are in the worst in 20 years, and now they're talking about the 1 in 100 year flood we had 30 years ago, I hope that doesn't happen!
- From:Ksmiley (Legacy)On:Sat Jan 05 2008Stay warm, dry, and comfortable. I am thinking of you as well as praying. I am hope you were able to get to the synagogue today. Have a happy day. I actually slept better than I did in the past two weeks.

I had to drive to get my news paper.. (sunday) and some staples.. could only see about half a block in front of me and drove about 15MPH the whole drive..
