Johnny Cash

Last night I watched a tribute to Johnny Cash.  And was disappointed.

I'm not a Country-Western fan, but I like Johnny.  He and June had such a wonderful love together.  He made some huge mistakes in his life, and credit goes to June who helped him straighten out.

Anyway, to the program.  There were pictures of him at various stages in his career, but not one song from his multitude of recordings was played.  Someone else, various C-W artists, sang his songs.  And they just didn't sound right.  A couple of June's songs were sung by female singers, and they weren't too bad, but they weren't June.

Maybe I'll go see the movie.  Can't be more disappointing than the TV show.

    I am a country-western fan...and I do like Johny too :-(

    I think, whatever good singer would sing somebody else's song, it will never sound right. though sometimes it sounds rather good too. different, but good. depends on an singer, I suppose...

    Actually, I understand that June's daughter walked out of the movie, upset. Not a good sign. I like Johnny too.

    It was so poorly produced that I too quit watching. I have some of his records and play them now and then.

    I had planned to watch that also.. but got busy and forgot about it..
    Guess it is nothing missed
    I loved June and Johnny.. they did have a marvelous marriage.. She saved his hide.. He was a troubled man before her..
    you know behind every good man.. is a better woman!!

    I think the most important thing about making movies or documentaries about real life events is that the essence is captured accurately and the integrity of the subject remains intact.
    I'm not happy otherwise.

    I hope you (and everyone who see's the movie) are not disappointed :o)

    very strange. fancy creating a tribute about a singer and not actually showing him singing any of his songs, that doesn't make sense to me at all

    I remembered my mom and dad listening Johnny Cash's songs. I wish I could hear but oh well :)
