Mon Sep 29 2008 - Bitthday party
Bitthday party

I went to a birthday party yesterday, and my hearing is just now returning.

A dozen or so 9-10 year-olds gathered in a fun place where there were things to climb on, laser tag, jungle-jim, bouncy-ball places. . .well, you get the idea.

The whole 5th grade class was invited, but they didn't all respond, of course. Two boys out of the rest of the partyers came. They mostly hung together, but at least they came.

Everyone was excited and talking at the top of their voices. Shrill voices. They soon settled down to a low roar. There was one place that was very popular with the kids. It was called the Big Kahuna.  Looked like a giant waterfall, without the water, and the kids could slide or bounce all the way down and then land on the back of a dolphin. Much shrieking on the way down! (Why do girls shriek?)

The party girl got a lot of loot.

There was a birthday cake with candles. Ice cream. And noise!

Parents actually arrived on time to pick up their kids when the party was over.

Big sister and her friend had a marvelous time.

Bless

Sounds like a fun time and sure beats the Bailout mess. We are in deep trouble with our elected leaders which ALL have golden parachute.

Why do girls scream.. with that shrill voice.. reaching disciples you could probably rank with a jet??? I live with that question - and it's one of the reasons I wanted so much to move into a retirement community.. the kids here are SOOOOOO loud.. and parents rarely come outdoors to see if someone is actually being killed.... I think so every day..... (Screech)

Sounds like a fun time for the kids!! My question is, "How did you get roped into that one???"

did you just walk by and accidentally got invited/pulled/bounced/kahuned into the party? did you get a cake&ice cream too? I like the idea of random kids parties - does sound like fun and we do need a bit of lightweight fun every now and then to take our minds off the sad reality :-)

That shrieking is the reason I was always happy I had a boy.

Yes, why do they shriek?!!
When my youngest was small, I went to an end of the year party at school. It was outdoors, thank God, because all the little girls did was run around shrieking. Made me glad I had boys.
