How embarrassing

Megan sent me a bunch of newspaper clippings. Don't know what paper this was in,  or the date, but here it is in its entirety.

Stove left on starts blaze at firehouse

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A fire station crew must be a little embarrassed by the way some of this state's famous potatoes got fried.
Boise firefighters returning from a medical call had to turn their hose on the firehouse kitchen after an overheated pan full of Tater Tots melted and set some cabinets ablaze.
The Christmas Eve fire at Station 8 was quickly extinguished, with no injuries. No damage estimate was available.
Investigators were trying to determine why a computerized safety system that automatically turns off appliances when firefighters are called away apparently had not been activated.  Assistant Fire Chief Dave Hannerman said the three firefighters on duty might have forgotten to use it.

That would be embarrassing! I never leave my toaster plugged in for that reason when I am not using it or not at home. We are very fortunate here where we have smoke detectors in the hallway of our apartment as well as in our bedroom. I have set the smoke detector off more than once with the stove getting so hot and burning my food but the detectors were way to sensitive until every apartment had the smoke detectors replaced in all of the apartments. The only time now that my goes off is when the battery is dying and the battery is replaced immediately.

RYN: Rick says in your area you should have no problem finding ActivOn at a Rite-Aid or Rexall. I think it worked wonders for me. It's really strong menthol which I thought would NOT make any difference at all, but it really and truly did. I need to get another stick and leave it at work.
