I VOTED.
Did you?
I was delighted to see the line, almost out the door. One of the poll workers said that at opening time, the line was out the door, and people have been coming steadily all day. I was happy to stand in line until a booth came available!
I've never seen such a turnout in my 60 years of voting. Now isn't that a sad commentary on the la-di-dah attitude of the American voter? You don't vote, you don't have a right to complain. Hey! your vote does count. And if you have an opinion on who is best suited to run our country, then you better get yourself to your polling place. Now. Having an opinion doesn't count. Expressing it does.
My television is off until just before I go to bed. I don't see any point in listening to all the blather about what that vote means, or which state is going to swing the election. It's all guessing, and I'm totally sated with all the punditry.
So. When I go to bed about midnight tonight, I'll have a pretty good idea who will be sitting in the presidential seat. If my guy doesn't win, then I can be sure that the majority of voters have spoken, if the polling place lines are any indication. And that's A Good Thing.
Bless

I never thought I would see it my lifetime either.
I have all the same hopes.

It's like when Princess Diana died. We found out 4pm in the afternoon, while the rest of the world was sleeping. I really felt for the British when they woke up to the national anthem playing, thinking the Queen Mother had died, not their favourite princess.
and the earth.. renewable power, alternative power.. so many things..
He has a couple months to get it all together and then get to work... cleaning up the huge disaster bush left us all!!!

But ultimately, Chaya, a candidate's color, faith, gender and sexual orientation are less important that his or her ability to lead a country. Right now the next US President should try to make the country self-sufficient, protect the environment and natural resources, and learn to work with people such as environmental and animal welfare activists. The Bush administration deemed activists as domestic terrorists. It's a strange kind of terrorist that hasn't killed anyone. I would like to see Obama's administration work together with people who care about all living beings. It's because the Bush admin did not engage or acknowledge these groups that they turned disillusioned about the govt and the political process.
Let's hope that Obama would bring the US into a cleaner, more compassionate, better future!
Love,
E.L.
