What I miss is conversation. Cynical, insightful, free wheeling, sobering, the gamut of expression, conversation. Always respectful of the other person's opinion, while whaling away at his reasoning.
When my husband was teaching 10th grade Social Studies, he told his classes that we welcomed them to our home, and would enjoy their company. Not very many took us up on it, but those who did were the brightest of the bright. They would sometimes bring the latest girl- or boyfriend, silently asking our approval of girl- or boy-.
I don't know that I've ever had more stimulating or thought-provoking conversations than with those teenagers. They had opinions on almost everything, sometimes cock-eyed, and sometimes brilliantly thought out.
I wonder where they are now? I miss them.
Bless
