I probably ought to be watching the 10 o'clock news and find out how much longer this heat will last, but I'm afraid I won't hear what I want to hear.
This afternoon when I went out to the mailbox, about 4:30pm, it felt like someone had hit me with a hot steamy towel. I've had to fill my patio fountain three times today. Evaporation. I think it holds about a gallon of water, or maybe more, but not much. A couple cats in the neighborhood are allowed to roam, and they like to take a little sip now and then from the fountain. But the heat takes more than the cats.
According to the paper it was supposed to hit 104 degrees today, and I don't even want to think about the humidity.
If I had the money, Sezrah would be expecting a visitor just any day now. As it is, I stay in the coolest room I can find, which right now is the kitchen/dining room with a fan blowing straight on me. For most of the day, it was the living room, but around 6:00pm I had to give in and turn on the swamp cooler. It's getting on to bedtime, but I think I'll be sleeping on the sofa in the living room. My bedroom is no way cool enough yet.
I went out a little while ago to check the water level in the fountain, and hoped that there might be at least a tiny little breeze. Yes, it's considerably cooler right now with the Delta Breeze finally kicking in.
I have to admit, though, that Sacramento isn't as bad as El Paso. We haven't had 110 degrees here that I remember. And it does cool down at night. Usually.
Come winter when I'm wearing long johns and two pairs of socks, I'll wish for some of this heat. What I'd *really* like is perpetual Spring. No, maybe not. I like Autumn too. But summer in Sacramento? You can have it.
Ok, that's my grumble today. More of the same tomorrow and probably for the next two weeks. Blah!! I'll try to think of something more interesting to write about tomorrow.
Oh, I did it. I listened to the weather report. Triple digits until Friday, then we go to a balmy 98. It is right now, at 10:55pm, 78 degrees, with humidity at 50%. But maybe I don't have to go to NZ for relief. Ft. Bragg is seeing mid-70s. Bye!!

Take care.
Lots of love,
E.L.
you'd be welcome here but would you be able to endure an unwarmed house?? that's the thing, i always feel badly when guests come and stay so i'd probably plant heaters in your room to at least warm you while jessica and i brave the chill :)

Take Care,

P.S. The swamp coolers don't help a lot when the humidity goes up, do they?
I decided to mope.
It didn't help.
I suppose it's the one thing to be thankful for at work.... it's like a meat locker in there.
On really bad days up in my old home town, I would put on my bathing suit and go get wet with the garden hose and then walk around in a wet bathing suit. Worked pretty good :-)
My condolences...
Y.
I bet the birds might have had something to do with the water loss in your fountains. On hot days here, they constantly drink and bathe in my fountains.

The midi music title is an arrangement of "I saw the Light" an old Gospel song. Go back and hear another arrangement that might be more familiar to you.
UGHH, that is just too darn hot.
