Surgical update
Mon Apr 03 2006

Today I saw the vascular surgeon who implanted the stent in my aorta.  He says I'm doing fine, and wants another CT scan in June.  However, he gave me a piece of information that cause my jaw to drop to the floor.  He described the placement of the stent.  Now, if you don't have a fairly good idea of the circulatory system, maybe you should find a medical book to understand the extent of my amazement.  The stent went from the aortic arch to mid-thorax.  Now, this whole area of the aorta was leaking before the stent was inserted.  There is also a blood clot on the outside of the aorta that needs to stay, as it acts sort of like a scab on a wound.  It will be absorbed, but the doctor said it takes a long time.

Why am I not dead?

Also the doctor suggested I do water aerobics, and have my primary make an appointment with a gastroenterologist.  I'm still having some of the digestive problems that originally sent me to urgent care, and thus to the ER.  Some of the treatments he suggested are about as attractive as eating worms.

Okay, so on a jollier note.....

Anybody like paper art?  Go to
http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/entertainment/papercraft/index.html.

This is not origami, but it has elements of origami.  I'm going to try to put together a model of the Hyacinth Macaw.  Gorgeous bird.  Then if that's successful, I'll try a zebra, then maybe a tortoise.  And then...and then...well, who knows how far that will go?

Oh, I am so tired of all this wet stuff.  We're well over 100% of "normal," and Arizona is in its 3rd? year of drought conditions.  Ma Nature is being totally unfair!  But the snow-capped mountains are gorgeous.  From a distance, that is.

My Ellery Queen mystery magazine is calling.

Shalom

    I love Ellery Queen.

Oh my . . . you are truly not meant to be dead yet. That is amazing. I'm so glad you are doing so well.

Weather sure has been crazy, and seeming to get crazier all the time. No surprise the reports are saying global warming is happening quicker than expected. Yeah, well DUH. All you have to do is look outside and see the weather is not normal. At least around here, there has been NO SNOW. In Michigan. NOT normal. Four times the normal amount of tornadoes this year in the US. NOT NORMAL! Odd, very odd. It will be interesting to see what this coming year brings.

Anyway! Boss is away . . . opportunity to touch base today with people here (playful little mouse that I am).

Hope your day is a good one! Would love to be curled up reading a good mystery myself . . .

    Love,
    ~me

    Dear Chaya,

Must you give me a myocardial infarction that way? By scaring the socks off me, telling me about your system pre-stent?

You've got me praying hard for your health and well-being. I haven't been this religious all year.

By all means, do water aerobics, and whatever low-impact sports that will benefit you.

I just want you to be well and happy.

Damn, if postage isn't so expensive, I could send you some lovely little books.

    Love,
    E.L.

I think the zoom groom thing that allimom talked about would be better for cats. I might have to get one and try it out on fuzz ball over here.

re the rules for the chocolate game:

sit in a circle with chocolate slab in the middle and clothes nearby (best to give everybody their own fork for hygienes sake). each person has a go at rolling the dice once, then they pass it onto the next person. you must not touch the clothes or chocolate unless you've rolled a six. as soon as somebody rolls a six they must hurriedly don all the clothes, then get to eat chocolate one piece at a time to their hearts content until the next person rolls a six. when there is a person eating the chocolate in the middle, its a furious flurry for the rest of the group to have somebody roll a six to limit how much that person gets to eat so there's much shouting and hurried throwing of the dice around the circle until finally somebody else gets a six. any more questions let me know but i hope that clears it up

gloves are always good clothes to add since its dang hard to put them on properly when you're in a hurry
