Michael Jackson
Tue Jul 07 2009

I am seriously tired of the man. Three TV stations, as we speak, are  memorializing his life and career. Again.  Three of them!!

OK, so I'm going to get some flak here. I acknowledge that he was a talent. A big one. But he abused his body with prescription and over-the-counter drugs. He denied his own self and altered his appearance so that there was only a minimal vestige of what he was born with.  He was a good looking young man before he went into all that plastic surgery.

All that hoo-rah, and he's gone at 50. RIP, Michael. I wish everyone would let you go quietly.

And then there's Farrah Fawcette. She fought a valiant battle against cancer, and lost. What did she get? A two-liner noting that she was gone. And that makes me mad. She was a beautiful woman, a talented actress. She was with her man and true to him. She didn't play around, there were no big headlines about the couple.  Hmmm, well, I guess she wasn't flamboyant enough for more than two lines noting her passing.

I'm sorry, Farrah. Rest in peace. You lived and died in dignity.

Bless

I think it's all a bit much, too. He was very talented but now he's being called "the greatest entertainer of all time." Yes, he made music videos more like short form movies than just someone singing on camera, but I'm not sure he really earned such a superlative title. He was, indeed, a strange little anorexic man. He was nearly six feet tall, yet only weighed 114 pounds when he died. Even if not for the drugs, at that weight he still could have died of cardiac arrest at any moment. It's just sad that he wouldn't accept the help he so desperately needed before it was too late.

I feel very sorry for his children. In spite of the weirdness with other children, by all accounts he was a wonderful father-- something which I have never known. I just hope his relationship with his children was really as it seemed to friends and family.

I understand what you're saying. I think that it's because Michael lived a huge life that touched so many people and being a music icon is why the coverage. Isn't how he lived his live along the same lines as Elvis, Kurt and Jimmy? Michael lived a very public life while Farrah was fighting this battle with cancer more quietly. Every news footage I saw seemed to make a bigger deal that her son was able to attend the funeral (and then proceed to talk about his criminal record) MORE than her death. I think that Michael seemingly touched more people than Farrah in the public eye and that is the reason for the coverage. That's just my opinion.

You know what I think is strange...MJ obviously had some psychological problem, like diagnosable, serious problem. Only, no one seems to examine that. There are lawyers and nurses and all sorts of interviews speculating on different parts of his life, but nothing from psychiatrists about his obvious detachment from reality.

The media likes the sensational. I don't see that ever changing. MJ was sensational, that's for sure.

I agree with your entry 100%.
Are they all forgetting the man was a child molester?
Greatest entertainer that ever lived, my a$$.
    Pffftttt.

    Rest in Peace, Farrah.

Rest in Peace, Farrah. You know, Chaya, it was the same when Princess Diana and Mother Theresa died within days of each other. All the newspapers and TV stations were making such a fuss of Diana that they forgot about humble, kind little Mother Theresa. People were laying flowers and wreaths in front of the British Embassy over here, for Diana. As if it made a difference! Just because Diana was the prettier and younger of the two. You are right, because MJ was more flamboyant, people made a huge deal of him. And clapped when his daughter uttered 5 words and burst into tears. People are dumb.

Hello!!!!!!!!! I agree. I loved the music, I understand that he had a messed up life. I wish he had not stolen Farrah's light. He didn't really . . . the media did.

Glad you are getting around better now.

I will do my best to get a home computer but it won't be soon enough! I miss the communication. I do think of you every day.
