Doctor update
Mon Jan 05 2009

Saw my primary care doctor today. He said the incision is well healed, and I CAN DRIVE!!!

He reviewed my medications as they were written when I left the hospital, and he approved all. He wants me to start back on coumadin again, and get another blood test in a week.

For some reason the test run by the gastrointestinal doctor wasn't in my record, and he wants to get that. He OK'd the medication that the GI doctor prescribed. I don't have GERD or acid reflux, but I do a lot of burping.  I do confess, thought that I occasionally do have some mild reflux. I'll take the medication and hope it will prevent a serious problem from developing.

Had lunch in a nice place, not pricey, after the doctor visit. We sat by the fireplace. Oh nice! I don't know why there weren't more people there, as it was the lunch hour when we were there. We got excellent service because we were the only ones there for awhile.

The physical therapist came by this afternoon.  She'll continue twice a week as long as my eligibility lasts.  She wants me to go for a short walk or two every day, so I got my mailbox key back, and I'll pick up my mail, and count that as one walk.   She says she'll take me over some rough places, potholes, and such and stepping over curbs. I try to avoid the rough places, and I'm very careful stepping over curbs, thank you.

Surgeon on Thursday. I should get a date for repairing the colostomy.

It's been another Good Day, and I expect tomorrow will be even better.

Bless

Well, sounds like good news all around.

One thing to add: I'd like you to talk with your doctor about keeping the home health aides. Even if they only come two or three times each week, I know you can use the assistance with ordinary things like laundry and vacuuming. Heaven knows that you deserve it!

Ahhhh. Driving again. I know how I felt after a year of not driving when the doc finally said I could again. I wanted to hug the world.

    INDEPENDENCE again!
    YIPEE!!!!!

My grandmother had "homemaker" aides that were allowed to do anything necessary, they could even take her to church, had she wanted them for that. Grocery shopping, household chores, cooking, driving to doctor's visits, anything she asked of them was alright. I know you would qualify for these same sort of aides.
