I spent a bunch of money to have a Nerd come and fix my puter and add some programs. Among the problems needing fixing was screen freeze. Did the screen freeze while the Nerd was here? Don't be silly. Did it freeze that same evening after he left with my check?
I swear Murphy lives in the innards of my CPU.
The original intention to updating today was to relate my adventures in my closet. I've been looking for my crochet hooks, and hoped to find them among some yard stuffed away in the back of the closet. Nope. No hooks. Dust a-plenty. Junk a-plenty. Carried a boxful out to the dumpster. But no hooks.
However, my closet floor looks neat now.
In the process of searching and cleaning, I found my cameras. Well, found isn't exactly accurate. I knew they were there. Somewhere. Anyway. I have four cameras. A Polaroid, two that use 35mm film, and a digital.
The digital I bought when I was visiting Megan last summer. It has some pictures of the gorgeous scenery around her place. I intended to post some of them here, but when I look at the process I have to go thru to get the pictures from the computer to DD, I lose courage. Thirty-one steps. Surely there's a shorter way to do this.
The newer of the 35mm cameras lets me take three different views. P-Panorama, C-Closeup, and I forget what the H stands for. Takes really nice pictures, but I have to take the film to the shop to be developed and then wait to see how they all came out. I bought that one to replace the older one that needs to go to the camera shop for some remedial help.
The Polaroid I bought years ago, and why I don't remember. It's great for quickie shots, but the pictures aren't all that good. Used to have a picture of me on the bottom left corner here, but it got removed for some reason I've forgotten.
On the health front, some improvement. The pulled muscles have healed, but I'm still coughing. Bringing up a lot of stuff, which is good, but sure uses up a lot of tissues. I've had to empty two wastebaskets. Oh, I guess that's more information than anyone needs, eh?
Tried to get an appointment with my own doctor, but he's booked solid. Finally got a morning date on the 21st of June. Well, the knee will wait. I've nursed it along thus far, and unless it collapses during my evening walk around the parking lot, I figure we can wait a bit longer.
Missy is contentedly asleep in my waste paper box. Even when I toss in another piece of paper, she's oblivious. She's wide awake at 5:00am every day, and attacking my toes. *sigh* I do wish Megan would invite her to come stay with her half-brother--Missy's half-brother. Megan has whole-brothers. I'm sure Missy would love hunting with Meester, and Megan could be presented with TWO snakes or TWO gophers, or whatever they were hunting.
Well, that's it. I'm going for a walk and see if I can spot Venus before dark.
Shalom

- From:Yetzirah (Legacy)On:Tue May 29 2007The stars and planets have been nice lately haven't they?
- From:Camomille (Legacy)On:Tue May 29 2007Usually the digital camera stuff goes pretty easy - mostly you just have to plug it in, make sure you have the disc it came with in the drawer and let the computer find the hardware and the 'wizard' to set it up. Hopefully you can get it to work for you fairly easily.
Now the coughing up so much stuff, that does not sound pleasant! I hope you are doing better very soon.
I'll check out that link in a sec.
Oh and on the computer Nerd thing . . . I can totally believe that, it is a common occurence unfortunately.
Thanks as always for just being you and being such a terrific person and friend. :-)
~me - From:Parett (Legacy)On:Tue May 29 2007I'm glad you're feeling better.
I have one, whole, room I have to clear out but I think I need to rent a trash bin in order to get it done.
Take care.... - From:Mamallama (Legacy)On:Tue May 29 2007Wow! I missed the Venus-Moon thing. Thanks for sharing the website and picture!
Hope you are all better soon!
Hugs - From:CovertOps (Legacy)On:Tue May 29 2007Dear Chaya,
Am so sorry to read that you have not been well! Please get well soon!
Also: So sorry to hear about your computer problems! Naughty Pea-Sea!
On another note: Congratulations on your recently clutter-free closet! My, imagine having 2 cameras hidden away among your other treasures! Tsk tsk! I hope you don't fall into the category of a pack rat. My brother is one and it is a major annoyance to the rest of us.
I hope you will have the time and energy to spring clean the rest of your house as well, and at the same time, take action against climate change by making minor changes to your home and daily habits.
I know you are doing a lot for the environment and I thank you for your continuous support of the work we do at our nature society and I would love to hear from you on this matter. Cleaning out our homes can reveal things about the way we use energy and spend our money, and thus pave the way to actions we can take to reduce environmental damage.
Missy is a darling. I would love to cuddle her. Does she go to bed with you? Speaking of cats, there is a book on home remedies for dogs and cats at our shelter. It contains illustrations on Ideal Weight for a Cat and An Overweight Cat. An overweight cat has a roundish face/head and protruding belly / belly overhang when in standing position. It looks like a sketched portrait of my Pixie! He is such a Roundie now.
The book also says you should be able to feel the ribs of a healthy cat without much difficulty. Jake and I were massaging and feeling Pixie for ribs last night and all we could feel is FAT! It certainly is time to put our little boy on a diet!
Love to all your Fur-Babies!
Love,
E.L. - From:MissTick (Legacy)On:Tue May 29 2007So you're saying that when you fed up with your camera, you just stick it into the closet and buy yourself the next one? hmmmm...I wonder if that might just work with the computers too? ;-)
Having nerdy-side experience, I can confirm that computers do tend to behave in the presence of those who has the power of fixing them. how many times I asked user: "are you sure it is broken? it looks fine to me" I have a theory that computers can feel humans and devide them into two classes: those who can manipulate you and those whom you can manipulate. Just like pets, yes? LOL...
Sending you my wishes to get better with your cough and your knee. Also thank you for visiting my place and most of all - for your comments - they encourage me to write more.
~Lana~ - From:Waterspriteflying (Legacy)On:Wed May 30 2007Thirty-one steps? If I had to do that, it would just be way too daunting. Here's an easier way, if you're interested:
Go to dropshots.com and set up a free account. They give you a little piece of software to install on your computer, and its icon sits down in the task bar on the right. When you have pictures to upload, you just click on it (a camera) and it opens itself.
Download your pictures from the camera to a folder in your computer. Click "View" and then "Thumbnails" so you can see which pictures are which. Highlight the ones you want to put online, and just drag them over to the Dropshots box that just opened. It will automatically resize them and put them on your Dropshots page, and sort them so they go on the calendar day you actually took them.
After that, you have 2 ways to go. You can click on a picture in your dropshots, and you'll see both the picture and a menu just to the right of it, with a link called "blog". If you click that, it will give you the code to put it into an entry.
Or you can click on a picture, and then right click on it and select "Copy Image Location", and put that into an entry, with <img src=" in front of it, and "</a> in back of it. Like so:
<img src=".http://dropshots.com/photos/126777/20070527/131734.jpg".</a>
(Don't put in the first or last period. I put those in so the code would show up and not the picture.)
So after creating your dropshots account, you have 1) Upload to computer 2)Highlight the ones you want to use 3)Drag them to the dropshots box at the bottom right of your screen 4)Copy the code to put into an entry.
Would that be easier than what you've heard? If I haven't been clear enough in my instructions, just let me know, and I'll try to do better.
RYC: I like Fobles, and may add Personal, like Personal Foibles with the 'i' missing. What do you think?
