I guess should begin to tell y'all about what happened besides the fact that I went into the hospital for surgery.

During the course of the days I discovered that it is very hard to be reasonable when you're feeling miserable. I have this condition called restless syndrome, and the medication for it--Sinemet and Neurontin--takes about an hour to take effect. In the meantime, my legs are trying to take off to any direction whatseover. Every twitch hurts the surgical belly, and the twitches themselves are miserable, although not painful. So the reasonableness comes in with  someone else's lack of understanding of the dosages of the Neurontin and Sinemet.  Now, here's where the problem comes: at bedtime, I take 300 mg of Neurontin and 3 tablets of Sinemet 25/100. PRN (as needed during the day) I take Neurontin 100 (one capsule) and Sinemet 25/100 (one tab). Is it really that difficult to see the difference between the regular dosage and the PRN?  Well, it seems so. I got it straightened out and understood the third day of incarceration. After much flailing and moaning and groaning.  *sigh* And a raised voice. That's when I repeated the quote, as a sort of apology.

First day and second day nurses left me pretty much alone until my blood pressure started the yo-yo thing. That happened when I was in for the emergency surgery back in November. The low was a lot lower than it was this time, and it was life threatening. So the Atenolol was removed from my medications. And the doctor and nurses had to find something that would control the pain without causing the pressure to drop.

The thing about Mercy Folsom nurses is that they talk. They told me what was happening and what they were trying to do. They told me everything I needed to know. Besides that, even as busy as they were, they took time to chat by the bedside. One young nurse thought I was so funny. I said something about my legs yammering at me. She said "Yammering?" I said "Yes. Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya !!!"

The first shower was wond-der-ful!! I couldn't bend my right arm because ths IV was inserted in the antecubitus (crook of the elbow) instead a vein elsewhere. So I had trouble using and rinsing the shampoo with one hand. Also had to feed myself with my left hand. Couple of sloshes there.

Maybe tomorrow I'll think of more to tell.

Bless

When I was in the hospital with choleosystitis I had serious fantasies of killing a particular nurse. Worse, she was someone I idolized as a child, but she didn't recognize me, of course. Once she realized what my problem was and WHO I was, she checked her attitude and things got much better.

I know this is too much information, but you must be glad to be going to the toilet normally now, and be done with the bag???
