Cats

Specifically, Baensidh.

Anyone who has lived with cats knows that they have a certain dignity about them. Even as frolicking kittens, there's an aura about them. Someone said that cats were worshipped in Egypt, and they've never forgotten that.

Even the most dignified cat can make a misstep and look foolish, and stalk off with a look that says "I meant to do that."

Well, Baensidh's nosiness got him into trouble and caused me a deal of merriment. There was a large paper sack on the floor in the kitchen with a handle on it. Cat's curiosity got the best of him and he finally just had to investigate the sack and the contents thereof. Now, I can't explain exactly how it happened because I was in the living room when Baensidh investigated the sack in the kitchen. But......

All of a sudden there he comes flying down the hall, circling the living room, a white blur at warp speed, jumping over funiture (knocked over some candle sticks), and finally galloping back down the hall the other way. With the handle of the sack around his neck. And the sack flying out behind him. Then utter silence.

Finally I go looking for him. All his usual hiding places. No cat. Now where could he have gotten to? No doors or windows open. So I looked again on the other side of the bed, and there he was, poor baby, all huddle into the farthest corner under the bed. The paper sack in a bunch under and around him. I tried to pull the sack out from under him, but it didn't budge. I finally discovered that the handle was still around his neck.

Well the sack was in shreds, but the handle was intact.

Once I freed the cat, he went somewhere else to hide (and lick his emotional wounds?). I didn't see him for several hours after that, but finally he got hungry and came out to eat. I gave him a little extra treat of tuna to try to make up a little for the indignity.

Wonder how long it'll take for the feline curiosity to get the better of him until he investigates another paper sack.

Shalom

PS: And the contents of the sack (two small light bulb, still in the box fortunately) I finally found in the bedroom and in the hallway.
