Yeah, what a morning! The colostomy bag burst. The outside edge next to the stoma, instead of inside edge toward the belly button. I got that cleaned up, got the skin guard all molded to fit over the stoma and got it "glued" in place. Then tried to fit the opening of the bag over the skin guard. And tried. And tried. It just wasn't clicking.
OK, dummy, look at which bag you're trying to attach. I pawed around the supplies and found the right bag, and click-click-click, on it went. See? All you need is to use the right stuff. This two-piece bag has a vent that lets out the gas instead of blowing up the bag, as the one-piecer was wont to do.
Neighbor came over. The one I have trouble getting to go back home. Fortunately, the nurse came within a short while, and M had the grace voluntarily to go home.
I can take a shower now!!! Don't feel steady enough to do it by myself, so will have to wait until the home health aide comes on Wednesday. Joan has found a hand-held shower, so without the HHA around, I could sit and shower myself. We'll see how it goes.
Now I have to go put things away in the bathroom. I'm going to pack up the bags I won't be using. Just get them out of the way. Then when I need a new bag, it'll reach out to my hand.
Called the surgeon's office for an appointment. Have to call back. I need to make an appointment with my primary and get some blood work done. Wearies me just thinking about it.
I'm out of my jammies today. I'm still wearing the incontinence pants, just in case. My sweats feel good.
I got a lovely visit last evening. A friend sent over four large bowls of her wonderful stoup (stew/soup). Each bowl will make two meals. My freezer runneth over. I may have to buy bread and milk before the month is over, but otherwise I won't go hungry.
I'm thinking of making a mac and cheese and tuna casserole. Have to leave off salads for awhile. I think raw is too early for the digestive system.
I guess I should start thinking about lunch. A grilled cheese sandwich sounds pretty good. But maybe I'll take a nap first.
Bless
