Banshee
Mon Jan 16 2006

Took Banshee to visit his doctor today.  His annual check-up and shots.  He also had the tartar removed from his teeth, which didn't make him very happy.  Also got a shot of penicillin because his gums bled.  I really need to take better care of his mouth, but he is not inclined to be cooperative, so I let it go.  Need to attend to KK, too, but he's even more uncooperative.

Banshee has lost a little weight since his last visit to the vet.  It's OK because he was getting a little too hefty.  But I need to monitor that, as if there's a feeding problem I need to be aware.

Both cats are now micro-chipped.  Even though they're strictly indoor cats, you never know when one of them might slip out.  I read stories about cats rescued and returned to their humans because they've been chipped or wear tags.  However, if a collar properly fits a cat, he can slip out of if he gets hung up on something.  So what happens with the ID tags, then?  We're not likely to have a catastrophe here that would separate my babies from me...but you never know.

The technician who scaled Banshee's teeth ended her note with "Sweet Boy."  And he really is.  Laid back, dignified, and his nose is slowly coming back in joint from having to put up with KK.  They actually sleep together on rare occasions.  Big improvement over a few months ago.  And he's beginning to demand lap time again.  For awhile I couldn't entice him, and if I did get him on my lap, he'd leave the moment KK came along.  Jealous.

Both cats are well and healthy, and I'm poorer.  Veterinary care is expensive.  I need to look into pet insurance.  (Yeah, yeah, yeah.  You keep saying it, but you don't do it.) (Hmmm, like a lot of other things.)

Tch.

So I'm going to bed.  The sleepy stuff is beginning to work, and I'd like to walk to the bedroom instead of crawl.  Goodnight.

Shalom

Be careful. Children shouldn't be taken to vets who pretend they are dentists.

microchiping cats sounds good. can you use remote control with this? and can you re-programm access into the house from 24/7 to some really mean hours in a winter time? I mean, when you really want to show them who's the boss? ;-) LOL

Oh yes the chip is good safe way to go!! We have had a number of cats but never one that liked a trip to VET.
Is it time we placed a chip in every new born in the world ?? Identy, orgin, just a thought but then the Hi teck idiots woud muck it up by scanning them for the rest of thier life.
Bad idea after thinking about ita minute.

    Dearest Chaya,

You are such a good Mommy to Banshee and KK! Jake and I are thinking of adopting a little sister, also a spayed young tabby from the shelter, for Chloe.

Banshee and KK are so lucky to live with you!

So glad Banshee and KK get along now!

    Love,
    E.L.

micro-chipping, that sounds like a good idea

its funny, i never even knew there was such a thing as indoor cats until i met jason. he was horrified at the fact that i let my cat outside and i thought the whole indoor cat thing was a little weird ;)
i can understand why tho, if there were beasts out there able to eat my kitty i wouldn't be in a hurry to let her roam free outside on a whim
