Oh, what a beautiful day. I think we must be at least ten degrees cooler than usual for August. We had few days of triples, but not early as many as we're accustomed to for July and August. And I am grateful!
I ordered from a catalog some extension thing-gies to lower hanging plants. Three of my plants I couldn't reach without a step stool, and reaching over my head made me dizzy. From lack of adequate water, they were getting pretty desperate looking. So now I can reach all the plants to water them and trim off dead leaves. Dead leaves go into the new composter.
The plants are looking happier already. I fed them with VF-11 this evening, and I think they'll perk up even more. I'm trying to make my patio an extension of the living room. Maybe I'll get some pictures to show you all.
I went to Old Sacramento with Joan today. She does 1800s stuff in dress of the day, bakes bread and uses a spinning wheel, and generally entertains visitors to Sutter's Fort. She goes to schools and talks about early California and demonstrates how to make yarn from a hank of sheep's wool, or string from a hank of cotton wool. She should have been a teacher, but she spent her career with the State of California, talking about water flows and rains and dams and such-like.
I spotted a candy shop and came home with more-or-less two pounds of salt water taffy. Oh, yeah, and some trinkets from the garment shop. I saw the prices of some of those dresses, and gasped!! Of course it's a limited market, and a well-made dress is a bargain, even so. Joan hand-sews all her dresses and under garments. Hand sews! The garments in the shop were machine sewed, so not entirely authentic. And hats!! For men and women.
And red wool long-johns. The real thing! Oh, and suspenders. And derbies. I think I'll go back and just browse. And find the candy shop and get a pound or two of taffy for Sis.
It was a lovely day today!! Thank you, Lord.
Bless
