I don't know about this....
Fri Feb 16 2007

I got hearing aids today.  Bilateral hearing aids.  Digital.  Programmable somewhat.

I hear way too much.  I had to spit out my chewing gum.  I hear myself breathing.

The tickety-tack of the keys while I'm typing sounds like a woodpecker doing his thing.

There's a little button I can push to lower the sound, but it doesn't lower enough.   I push the button and hear a beep-beep, and that indicates that I'm not hearing all the rattle-bang of the normal world.  Well, I can still hear my breathing and the tickety-tack of the keys.  I push the button again and get a beep, which signals that I back in the "normal" hearing range.  Uh-uh.  Ain't goin' that way.

The next time Missy sticks her nose in my ear and starts purring, I'll probably go ballistic.

Even the sound of my slippers scuffing across the carpet is almost more than I want to hear.

I live a block away from a fire station.

I'm supposed to read out loud 10 minutes a day.  Since I live alone, the sound of my voice is to take the place of family conversation.  You mean people talk to each other 10 minutes a day?

I had to let my friend and neighbor know that I have new ears.  I'm constantly demanding that she raise her voice.  She talks almost in a whisper.  Well, today, I heard her loud and clear.  She doesn't whisper.

This is one noisy world!!!

I'll be meeting with the audiologist once a week to get my ears fine-tuned.

Stay tuned.

I really had to laugh at this one lol I went through the same thing when I got my first pair of hearing aides! I thought I would go crazy for the first few days. The first time I got in my car after putting them in, the stereo almost blew me out the back window lol. I haven't worn them in a couple of years cause they both died. I need to get a new pair really bad but they are so $$$$ bet when I get new ones it will be that way again for a couple of days. Enjoy them, Richard

Hang in there. You will get used to them and even begin to love the sounds you have been missing.
    Good luck.
    Hugs!

Oh but now you will hear sounds forgotten, They can adjust them and it does take time . It also takes some time for the gray matter to adjust to new sounds . IT will get better .

Hearing aids! That's so cool. You'll hear things you Want to hear, too.

RC is going through the same thing with his, hearing himself chew, hearing his chair squeak. Today he was outside, and couldn't believe the racket the birds were making!

Take care, and enjoy your new noisy world!

    Hugs,
    Ani

Wow, great that you got the hearing aids! I'm sure they can do something to help with the unpleasant effects, or maybe it's just something to get used to. It's so amazing that such a little thing can make such a huge difference!

Did you find someone to vacuum up for you? Oh, and the blueberries sounds good. Sorry to hear about the cream turning. *sigh* I live in a area that produces tons of blueberries each year and used to pick them in the summer when I was young.

Hope you are having a terrific weekend!

RYC - Yes they do put out fruit, although not as much. I think it would be worth losing a little fruit to have a tree look like that. I'll plant another apple tree for the fruit. :o)
