Addition to the family
Tue Sep 26 2006

Her name is Beauty.  She was born on 5 July, and came to live with Banshee and me on 25 September.

She is a Siamese kitten.  You may remember my writing about a visitor, and the meeting didn't seem too promising.  Twice.  This time she and Banshee did a lot of nose touching and sniffing, but no growls or hissing.  Ah, maybe it'll work this time.

In spite of the nosing and sniffing, Banshee did seem out of sorts.  He hid away and would come out for brief periods to see if that "thing" was still hanging around.

This morning started a new effort in getting acquainted.  They began playing Pounce and Chase and Roll Around on the Floor.  Picture the difference in size of a 3-year-old Banshee and an almost 3-month-old Beauty.  But she held her own!  They're not sleeping together yet, but I hold out hope.

Beauty is purebred Siamese, but without papers.  From the same mother as KK and Psycho.  They are from the first litter, and she is from the third.  Anyway, if I wanted to breed her (which I definitely DON'T) she could be bred for her RagDoll markings.  She has two dots of white on her muzzle and has a white chin.  White toes on the front, and thigh-high sox on the back.  She has seal-point colors, which will darken as she gets older.

Beauty immediately found the food bowl, and shortly after, the litterbox.  She has found the fountain, but at first she dipped her paw then licked the paw.  Now she laps.

Beauty has her own sleeping basket, but she didn't use it last night.  She slept somewhere in the living room, but joined me in bed just before I was ready to wake up.  She has made some brief efforts at grooming me, and does a good job of grooming herself.

Oh, yes, and she's quite a cuddler.  And a very effective purr-er.

Beauty has a set of lungs I hope I won't hear too often.  Just before I brought her home, she was sprayed with flea-repellent.  That did not go down well with her.  Such a squall from that little ball of fur. !!!

Excuse me now while I go make a phone call to the vet.

Shalom

Welcome to Beauty! You know, Siamese cats are known for meowing. I hope this one doesn't bother you too much!

I have a chance at a long haired Calico. I said no . . . and now think I should see if it's still available. Lenny is long gone and Squiggy seems a little on the depressed side. He could use a playmate too.

I am sure Banshee is delighted to have some furry company. Enjoy!

Congrats on your new addition to the family. It certainly can't hurt to have another cuddly one around. I'm sure that with some time, the 2 will get along famously.

You are of course welcome to my friends list for notifies. I dont really have any private entries, so there isn't really anything private to read. As you can see, I mostly write about philosophy and political isssues. I hope you enjoy reading.

    Be well, new friend.

COngrats on the new edition! Doubt she'll get over the yowling as it's in the Siamese nature to be verrrry vocal ;)

Oh!!! How wonderful!!! How exciting!!! Welcome, darling Beauty!

Banshee's reaction sounds very similar to Chloe's when I first brought Pixie home. They will soon be the best of friends.

It would be nice if you had photos of Beauty to share with us.

    Lots of Love,
    E.L.

Oh yeah. Almost forgot to tell you. You're going to hear more of her squalling. She is, after all, Siamese. They are very vocal cats. Plus they sing opera. Scream their undying love for their mates through locked doors and all.

    Love,
    E.L.
