No, not that tricked-out vehicle. The birds. Hummingbirds. Hummers. They hum. Well, the wings buzz. Sounds like hum.
Anyway, there are no flowers around here to attract hummers now that the agapanthus have stopped blooming. And those are the only flowers around this building. Anna's hummingbirds do over-winter, and, in fact are native to California. I did see some when I was at Joan's last week. So, I bought a feeder, mixed up some sugar water, and hung the feeder outside my living room window.
I've not seen any hummers at the feeder, but obviously something has been around. I had to make up some more sugar water and hang the full feeder again. I have no idea when the birds come to feed, because the feeder is below the view from the window unless I'm standing right there looking out. Neither of the cats has been aware of anything coming to the feeder. Maybe I'll get lucky and happen to be looking out the window at something else when one of those little buzz bombs comes to nourishment. Or maybe Banshee will be at the window and will chatter at the birds.
It's raining a bit now. I hope the wind doesn't blow too hard, or the rain come down in buckets, for I don't know how well the hummingbirds can fly in that kind of weather. They need to feed frequently during the day. There's no sheltered place I can hang the feeder, where the birds could find it. I just hope they have the stamina to come even when the weather is bad.
Bless
