If it isn't one d*** thing. . . .
Sat May 22 2010

My right knee has decided to take sick leave,  or something. It's swollen, painful, and I can't straighten the joint. I start physical therapy on Wednesday. My right hip aches and so does my back. By favoring my right knee, I put undue pressure on my left knee to bear the burden, as it were. So it aches, too. But at least it's bendable. One of these times, when I get up from a chair, for instance, I'm going to end up Splat on the floor. The knee threatens to go out on me when I'm walking, so you can figure what's going to happen if I get up too abruptly and put all my weight on the right knee.

So you see why I don't write very often. If it isn't the lousy weather I'm complaining about, it's another damn thing gone wrong with my body.

These are supposed to be my Golden Years. If these are Golden, then my previous years have been pure Platinum! By comparison, even better than Platinum, if there is such a thing. Comparatively, then, from Platinum to Dross. :(

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can put Miss Piggy...er...Missy...on a reducing diet, but still keep the food bowl out for Banshee when he wants a nibble? Banshee does not need trimming down. And a nibble is all Banshee wants at one time. Whereas Missy has her face in the bowl if she's not sleeping or taking up space in front of the heater. I'm going to take her to the Vet for a check-up, and we'll talk about the problem of the two cats. But if anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear about them.

Be careful of your health and appreciate it, Children, because you never know when everything is going to start going to H-E-double toothpick (thank you, Radar) in a handbasket.

Bless

The only thing I've ever been able to do to put weight on a skinny cat is to give them wet food really often, but they have to be separated out from the rest of the pride or a more dominant member will take it from them. What I've always done is to give half a can, minus one tablespoon for the fat one, in the morning and repeat in the evening. But you have to give that tablespoon to the fat cat or you'll get unending attitude from the fat one.

As for that falling apart with age crap, I hear ya, sister! I just wish someone would have told me that it would start to happen by 40! I'm certain I would have made some changes if I'd known how early it hits and how painful deterioration really is.

Ah, Radar-isms. Gotta love 'em. I'm sure if M*A*S*H had been a couple of decades later that it would have spawned a book of Radar-isms. My favorite:
    Nurse: Radar, you're so nice.
Radar: I hadda be. When I was a kid if I wasn't nice they'd hit me!

My kid has oft repeated that line when he received a comment about his amicability. I wish we could get a thread going about everyone's favorite M*A*S*H quotes. I think it would be fun.

I've heard so many people comment about the golden years and how they suck. Who came up with the phrase anyway? They must be talking about no longer being in the work force.
I've missed you. Keep us posted.
    Praying for you.
    Hugs, Tiggs

You are so right about health.. When it starts to decline there is no stopping it.. seems to me, my health is a fast moving train on downhill slope...
YIKES! Hope your knee is not a frozen joint.. My mom might have that happening with her right foot and therapy is extremely painful. mom doesn't do well with pain.. so not sure how successful therapy will be...
Finally got all the carpets cleaned in this place.. new blinds on windows and so much stuff clutter cleaned out.. I feel like I worked for a year on it rather than only a week, but thankfully it is done..
Feels much better in here, doesn't look any different, but sure feels cleaner!!! and that's what is important to me..
    Much love..

Golden years? what golden years? I think babies and young children have the golden years! They get everything done for them and are at that adorable age before they start being willfully cheeky, naughty, destructive, whatever!
Hope your knee behaves and functions again.
I have no idea how to slim down a cat. I grew up on a farm, we would give the cats some dry biscuits of a night, but they usually fended for themselves.

RYC: I've had a real problem learning to cook for two. I tend to cook for the Russian Army so I know where you're coming from. These days there are a lot of really good quality frozen single serve entrees out there in a huge variety of flavors so that might be an option for you to consider. When I'm by myself for a meal I lean toward grilled cheese and tomato soup and similar things. Nothing that's really good for me *laffs*. If it's fast and easy I'm all about it. Yesterday I had chips and salsa for lunch *rolls eyes*
